Harbinger Motors is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Wire Harness DRE to lead the design, development, and release of innovative wire harness systems for our next-generation electric vehicles. In this role, you will be a key contributor to our engineering team, taking ownership of projects from concept to production, ensuring the highest standards of quality, performance, and manufacturability.
Responsibilities:

Lead the complete lifecycle of wire harness development for various vehicle systems, including power distribution, communication networks, and sensor integration.

Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to define requirements, design specifications, and integration strategies.

Develop detailed 2D and 3D wire harness designs using CAD tools (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, NX), ensuring optimal routing, packaging, and serviceability.

Conduct design reviews and analyses to identify potential issues, optimize designs for cost and weight, and ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., USCAR, ISO).

Manage supplier relationships for wire harness components and assemblies, including technical specifications, quality assurance, and production readiness.

Perform FMEAs (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacturability/Assembly) to mitigate risks and enhance product reliability.

Develop and execute validation plans, including DVP&R (Design Validation Plan and Report), to ensure designs meet performance, durability, and environmental requirements.

Support vehicle build events and resolve issues related to wire harness integration, installation, and functionality.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives for wire harness design processes, tools, and methodologies.

Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and cross-functional team members.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

Minimum of 5+ years of experience in wire harness design and development, preferably within the automotive or electric vehicle industry.

Proven track record of successfully leading wire harness projects from concept to production.

Expert proficiency in CAD software for 2D and 3D wire harness design (e.g., CATIA V5/V6, SolidWorks Electrical, NX).

Experience with Capital tools for wire harness design.

Strong understanding of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and harness assembly processes.

Knowledge of relevant automotive standards (e.g., USCAR 21, USCAR 38, ISO 19642).

Experience with PDM/PLM systems (e.g., Enovia, Windchill).

Familiarity with various wire harness components (connectors, terminals, conduits, tapes, clips).

Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic, and collaborative environment.
Bonus Points:

Experience with high-voltage wire harness design for electric vehicles.

Knowledge of vehicle network architectures (CAN, LIN, Ethernet).

California Pay Range
$140,000 - $160,000 USD
