Job Summary:
The Director of Dealer Development is a key strategic leader responsible for building, expanding, and optimizing our North American dealer and service network. This person will drive dealer recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance with a focus on commercial readiness, fleet support, and high uptime expectations. You’ll be shaping a dealer strategy for a category that’s quickly electrifying and evolving.
Key Responsibilities:
- Network Strategy: Design and execute a scalable dealer development strategy targeting commercial and municipal markets, fleet-focused dealers, and service providers.
- Dealer Recruitment: Identify, evaluate, and onboard qualified medium-duty truck dealers and service partners in priority regions to support national expansion.
- Dealer Enablement: Develop training, certification, and support programs to ensure dealers are equipped for EV education, sales, maintenance, and uptime optimization.
- Service Readiness: Work with internal service and product teams to ensure dealers meet infrastructure, tooling, and technician training requirements for EV maintenance.
- Channel Management: Define performance KPIs and implement dealer scorecards, audits, and incentive programs to ensure continuous improvement.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, Engineering, Service, Sales, and Government Affairs teams to align dealer capabilities with vehicle readiness, regulatory requirements, and fleet demands.
- Brand & Experience Oversight: Ensure dealers deliver a premium customer experience aligned with our brand, including fleet demos, financing, telematics integration, and aftersales support.
- Fleet Engagement Support: Assist dealers in navigating complex B2B sales processes, including fleet trials, RFP responses, and total cost of ownership modeling.
- Market Expansion Planning: Use data and customer feedback to guide geographic expansion, prioritizing underserved fleet markets and EV incentive zones.
Qualifications
- 10-15+ years of experience in dealer development, channel sales, or commercial vehicle operations—preferably in medium-duty trucks, EVs, or fleet sales.
- Proven success building or managing dealer networks and service operations in a growth-phase or startup environment.
- Understanding of commercial vehicle sales cycles, including fleet procurement, leasing, maintenance contracts, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong knowledge of EV infrastructure, service challenges, technician readiness, and government incentives (CARB, HVIP, IRA, etc.).
- Excellent communication, leadership, and negotiation skills; experience engaging with dealer principals, service managers, and fleet procurement teams.
- Analytical and strategic mindset with comfort in a fast-paced, data-driven culture.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% (regional and national).

California Pay Range
$150,000 - $200,000 USD
