
IT Desktop Support Tech
Harbor is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Desktop Support Technician to provide hands-on, on-site, IT support for our Chicago office. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring employees have reliable access to technology by managing hardware, software, and related systems. You’ll play a key part in onboarding and offboarding staff, resolving technical issues, and maintaining smooth day-to-day IT operations. This position works on-site at our headquarters office located in the Chicago Loop.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide Tier I/II support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals.
- Respond to and resolve IT service tickets promptly and accurately.
- Troubleshoot hardware, operating systems, and software issues for end users.
- Support network connectivity, printers, and conference room technology.
- Configure, install, and maintain laptops for new hires, replacements, and returns.
- Manage IT equipment inventory, including tracking, asset tagging, and decommissioning.
- Provide remote support through screen-sharing and remote desktop tools.
- Collaborate with vendors for equipment purchases, repairs, and service contracts.
- Conduct root cause analysis and document solutions to prevent recurring issues.
- Support onsite meetings, including audio/visual (AV) setup and troubleshooting.
Requirements:
- Proven experience providing desktop/laptop support in a professional environment.
- Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems (Mac experience is a plus).
- Familiarity with Active Directory, Microsoft Office 2016 or later, and Windows domain environments.
- Experience with imaging, configuration, and troubleshooting hardware.
- Understanding of TCP/IP networking, antivirus tools, and security best practices.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong organizational skills, including inventory and asset management.
- Ability to lift and move IT equipment as required.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1–3 years of experience supporting Windows services and workstations.
- Experience with shipping/receiving processes
- Knowledge of roaming profiles and enterprise IT deployments.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
