
Legal Research Associate
Harbor is seeking a Research Associate to join its Knowledge and Research Services team, which provides legal, business, competitive, and market research, library operations, and knowledge services support.
The ideal candidate has law firm experience, strong legal document retrieval skills, and a commitment to accuracy and client service. This fully remote role is open to candidates anywhere in the Philippines.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Locate and retrieve legal and business materials—including cases, dockets, statutes, regulations, treatises, SEC filings, and company information—using citations, links, and foundational search techniques.
- Conduct assigned legal, company, industry, and market research; develop search strategies, assess sources, and organize and summarize findings with guidance from senior researchers.
- Review documents, data, citations, and deliverables for accuracy, completeness, relevance, and compliance with client instructions and quality-control standards.
- Monitor and respond to client and internal requests, ask clarifying questions, provide timely updates, and escalate issues when needed.
- Prepare professional research summaries, reports, presentations, and Excel workbooks using established templates; accurately enter, organize, review, and analyze information.
- Use request management systems, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and related tools to manage workflows, collaboration, and document storage.
- Collaborate with colleagues to complete work on time, contribute to a supportive team environment, and participate in training, knowledge sharing, and professional development.

Key Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree and prior experience in a law firm or legal services environment required.
- Experience retrieving legal and corporate documents, with familiarity with court systems, legal terminology, citations, and research processes.
- Working knowledge of research platforms such as Westlaw, LexisNexis, Bloomberg Law, Capital IQ, EDGAR, court and docket databases, or comparable resources.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel, including creating professional presentations and organizing, reviewing, and analyzing data.
- Strong written and verbal communication, professional email etiquette, teamwork, responsiveness, and sound judgment.
- Ability to follow procedures, templates, and client instructions; manage priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced remote environment; and maintain a reliable internet connection.
- Self-motivated, dependable, and committed to continuous learning and professional growth.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting attorneys, librarians, paralegals, or other legal professionals.
- Experience using SEC EDGAR, PACER, court websites, docket platforms, legal request management systems, or comparable resources.
- Experience preparing research summaries, client-facing reports, presentations, or data-driven deliverables.
- Interest in expanding legal, business, market, and competitive research capabilities.
