Position Summary 

The Manager, Digital Product Design is a creative and technical leader responsible for driving the digital sculpting vision for licensed and owned consumer products. This role oversees the development of high-quality digital sculpts from concept through production, ensuring accurate character likeness, manufacturability, and adherence to licensor requirements. The Manager will lead and mentor a team of digital sculptors, manage external vendor relationships, and collaborate cross-functionally with design, engineering, and development teams to deliver world-class products on schedule. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Creative & Technical Leadership 
  • Lead digital sculpting development for licensed and owned brands across multiple product lines. 
  • Establish and uphold best practices for digital sculpting workflows, tools, and asset management. 
  • Ensure sculpted assets meet creative intent, licensor guidelines, engineering constraints, and manufacturing requirements. 
  • Demonstrate expert-level ability to capture accurate character likeness and translate 2D reference into compelling 3D sculpts. 

 

Team Management & Development 

  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of digital sculptors, providing creative direction, technical guidance, and performance feedback. 
  • Balance team workloads across multiple projects with shifting priorities and timelines. 
  • Foster a collaborative, supportive, and growth-oriented team culture. 

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration 

  • Partner closely with Design, Engineering, Model Shop, Project Management, and Global Development teams to ensure seamless product execution. 
  • Communicate project status, risks, and milestones clearly to internal stakeholders. 
  • Ensure projects remain on schedule and aligned with licensor approvals and deliverables. 

 

Vendor & External Partner Management 

  • Develop, manage, and maintain a global network of external sculpting and prototyping vendors. 
  • Review and provide feedback on vendor work to ensure quality, consistency, and adherence to brand standards. 
  • Support sourcing strategies related to digital sculpting and model development. 

 

Process & Program Development 

  • Drive continuous improvement in digital sculpting processes, tools, and documentation. 
  • Lead the development and management of an internship program in partnership with local colleges and universities, including recruitment, mentorship, and curriculum alignment. 

 

Required Qualifications 

  • Candidates must demonstrate excellent English proficiency, with strong fluency in both Mandarin and Cantonese. 
  • Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) or equivalent degree in a digital medium, including Visual Effects, Animation, Game Development, or related field. 
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in digital sculpting for consumer products; toy industry experience strongly preferred. 
  • Expert-level proficiency in ZBrush with a strong portfolio demonstrating original consumer product development. 
  • Deep understanding of engineering principles and consumer products manufacturing processes related to sculpted assets and production tooling. 
  • Proven experience capturing accurate character likeness for licensed figure development. 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities. 
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience working with major licensed brands and licensors. 
  • Familiarity with downstream manufacturing processes including, paint operations, and mass production. 
  • Experience building or scaling creative teams and internship programs. 
  • Knowledge of additional 3D software platforms and digital production pipelines.
