Privacy Paralegal

Boston, Massachusetts, United States; Renton, Washington, United States

We take play seriously. We’re looking for curious adventurers ready to find their party, fueled by imagination and drive to build what’s never been built before. At Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast, you’ll collaborate with passionate teams to reimagine our iconic brands and create experiences that spark joy, connection, and community through the magic of play. This is your chance to shape legendary play that lasts a lifetime.

Job Overview

Ever wondered what happens to a player's data after a Magic: The Gathering signup or a Hasbro Pulse pre-order? Hasbro's Global Privacy team makes sure it's handled accurately worldwide.

We're looking for a Privacy Paralegal who enjoys being the person everyone turns to. When a team anywhere at Hasbro has a privacy question, this is who they call, and they should walk away knowing exactly what to do next. Plenty of questions can be settled on the spot; the thornier ones go to our attorneys, already framed and ready for a decision.

Every new launch at Hasbro raises privacy questions. Marketing wants to run a Nerf giveaway, engineers are adding a feature to a game app, a vendor is pitching a tool that touches fan data. This role helps each team find a no-nonsense resolution and sees it through to a decision they can build on.

The role also keeps the privacy program running: triaging incidents and requests, collaborating with Privacy Operations on data maps and consent tools, writing the playbooks other teams rely on, keeping SharePoint records audit-ready, helping attorneys refresh privacy notices, and leading the program budget. And each January, it leads Data Privacy Day!

Location and Work Arrangement

This role is based at our Boston, Massachusetts or Renton, Washington office and follows a hybrid schedule designed to support in-person collaboration. Employees are expected to work onsite on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with the flexibility to work remotely or onsite on Mondays and Fridays.

What You'll Do

  • Build and refine the workflows, playbooks, templates, and procedures that let a small team support a global company.
  • Run privacy reviews of new products, features, and vendors, capturing the technical and business details attorneys need and keeping each review progressing toward a conclusion.
  • Serve as the privacy team's main liaison to Product Development, engineering, and marketing, so privacy requirements are part of project plans from day one.
  • Partner with Privacy Operations to maintain updated processing records alongside data mapping, and to lead our consent, request, and assessment tools as products and vendors change.
  • Track program activity and trends, and report status to privacy leadership.
  • Keep the team's SharePoint organized and audit-ready.
  • Oversee the financial aspects and invoices of the data protection efforts.
  • Answer questions from departments, subsidiaries, and affiliates, turning legal requirements into direction teams can act on.
  • Help attorneys update privacy notices and policies as laws change.

What You'll Bring

  • Degree or equivalent experience; paralegal certificate a plus.
  • 2+ years of paralegal or legal experience, ideally in privacy, compliance, or risk; a technology background is a plus.
  • The confidence to be the first call when a product team hits a tricky privacy question: someone who can size up the issue, recommend a practical answer and stand behind it, and recognize when it's time to bring in an attorney.
  • A knack for running an active program: keeping many workstreams moving at once, building processes that scale, and writing updates in plain language that people actually read.
  • Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Teams, and Jira.

What Sets You Apart

  • Knowledge of US state privacy laws, GDPR, or Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
  • Experience with OneTrust or Ketch.
  • Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) certification would be advantageous.

Notice Regarding Hasbro’s use of AI in the Recruitment Process

We use Greenhouse’s AI-powered Talent Matching tool to compare your application against our job requirements.

How it works: Talent Matching compares information from your resume and application responses with job-related criteria established and weighted by Hasbro’s recruiting and hiring teams. Depending on the role, these criteria may include relevant skills, work experience, prior job titles, and industry experience. The tool then assigns a match category to help organize applications for review.

Human oversight: Talent Matching supports — but does not replace — human review. It does not automatically advance or reject candidates or make employment decisions. Hasbro’s recruiters and hiring managers review applications and remain responsible for all hiring decisions.

Greenhouse has published the results of an independent bias audit of Talent Matching. View the Greenhouse Talent Matching audit results.
