Director, Enterprise IT & Applications

Herndon, VA

Hawkeye is seeking a hands‑on, growth‑oriented Director of Enterprise IT & Applications to lead the company’s corporate technology environment, enterprise applications, IT operations, and end‑user services. This leader will ensure Hawkeye’s technology services are secure, reliable, scalable, and aligned with business needs, while building a foundation capable of expanding into a future VP‑level leadership role as the company grows.

The Director is responsible for the performance of Microsoft 365, Zoom, enterprise AI capabilities, and other business systems, while modernizing IT service delivery and maturing governance, automation, and operational processes. This is a hands‑on technical leadership role—balancing strategy with active engagement in engineering, troubleshooting, and project execution.

As a publicly traded company, Hawkeye requires strong IT governance. The Director serves as the operational owner of assigned SOX IT controls while partnering closely with the CISO and Director of SOX Compliance to ensure clear accountability and separation of duties.

Your main responsibilities will be:

Enterprise Applications & Technology Management

  • Own strategy, operations, and lifecycle management for enterprise applications including Microsoft 365, Zoom, AI platforms, and other corporate systems.
  • Oversee administration, integration, configuration, and availability of enterprise platforms.
  • Evaluate, deploy, and operationalize enterprise AI capabilities in alignment with data protection and compliance requirements.
  • Standardize application governance, licensing, vendor management, and lifecycle planning.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce platform sprawl, improve productivity, and streamline processes.
  • Maintain direct engagement in major deployments, integrations, and escalated technical challenges.

IT Operations & Service Delivery

  • Lead the IT service desk, endpoint support, identity administration, and technology asset management.
  • Drive modernization of ITSM processes, including potential migration from Jira Service Management to ServiceNow.
  • Implement standardized incident, problem, change, request, asset, and configuration management.
  • Define and track SLAs, KPIs, customer satisfaction, and operational reporting.
  • Expand automation, self‑service capabilities, and proactive service monitoring.
  • Act as senior escalation point for complex operational issues and outages.
  • Ensure onboarding/offboarding and access provisioning processes are timely, secure, and consistent.

Hands‑On Technical Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a small team of engineers and service professionals while maintaining a strong personal technical foundation.
  • Allocate responsibilities, set performance expectations, and drive accountability.
  • Guide solution design, participate in troubleshooting, and lead technical projects directly when required.
  • Manage third‑party vendors, consultants, and service providers.
  • Foster a culture of responsiveness, ownership, and continuous improvement.

SOX Compliance, IT Controls & Governance

  • Serve as operational owner of assigned SOX ITGCs, executing controls, maintaining evidence, and supporting audits.
  • Implement and document controls related to access management, privileged access, change management, and IT operations.
  • Collaborate with the Director of SOX Compliance for testing coordination, remediation, and reporting.
  • Maintain repeatable, auditable processes for control execution and evidence retention.
  • Remediate control deficiencies and track corrective actions to closure.

Cybersecurity Coordination

  • Partner with the CISO to implement security configurations, access controls, endpoint protections, and operational safeguards across enterprise IT systems.
  • Coordinate vulnerability remediation, patching, identity management, and security incident response activities within Enterprise IT.
  • Ensure new technology deployments incorporate security requirements and undergo proper review.
  • Support assessment and audit activities by providing system information and evidence of operational controls.

IT Strategy, Financial Management & Executive Reporting

  • Support the CIO in defining the IT strategy, operating model, and multi‑year roadmap.
  • Manage operating budgets, licensing, vendor negotiations, and technology expenditures.
  • Provide executive reporting on service performance, system health, technology initiatives, and control execution.
  • Lead technology initiatives supporting business growth, acquisitions, and organizational integration.

Your skills and qualifications:
Essential education and experience:

  • 8+ years of progressive IT experience, including 3–5 years leading IT teams.
  • Strong technical proficiency with Microsoft 365, identity management, endpoint administration, and collaboration platforms.
  • Experience operating or implementing ITSM platforms (Jira Service Management, ServiceNow).
  • Hands‑on leadership style with demonstrated capability in troubleshooting and systems administration.
  • Experience executing IT general controls, supporting audits, and remediating deficiencies.
  • Working knowledge of SOX requirements and the role of IT in financial reporting.
  • Experience implementing technical security controls and coordinating with Information Security.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and vendor management skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience in a public company subject to SOX compliance.
  • ServiceNow deployment or ITSM transformation experience.
  • Experience deploying and governing enterprise AI capabilities.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, Defender, NIST, and CMMC environments.
