Director, Corporate Security & Facility Security Officer

Herndon, VA

This role goes beyond traditional FSO responsibilities and serves as Hawkeye’s senior leader for personnel security, physical security, industrial security, executive and travel protection, and counterintelligence awareness.

Reporting to the CISO, and maintaining direct executive reporting lines to the CIO, the Director will protect Hawkeye’s personnel, facilities, and sensitive information while ensuring compliance with U.S. government security requirements. The position operates as a peer to the Director of Enterprise IT & Applications and collaborates closely on physical access systems, identity management, and incident response.

This is a hands‑on leadership role suited for someone who can both design security programs and personally execute sensitive investigations, manage incidents, coordinate with government authorities, and advise executives. As Hawkeye grows, this position is structured to evolve into a broader VP‑level Corporate Security leadership role.

Your main responsibilities will be:

Personnel Security (PERSEC) & Background Investigations

  • Lead and manage Hawkeye’s personnel security program, including clearances, background investigations, reinvestigations, and continuous vetting.
  • Initiate, submit, and track investigations through government systems such as DISS and NBIS.
  • Maintain accurate security records, manage reporting obligations, and coordinate with DCSA and other government partners.
  • Oversee security onboarding/offboarding, briefings, NDAs, access eligibility, and debriefings.
  • Monitor and process foreign travel, foreign contacts, and other reportable activities.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on clearance requirements and investigation procedures.

Physical Security & Facility Protection

  • Build and lead Hawkeye’s physical security program across all facilities.
  • Oversee access control systems, cameras, intrusion detection, visitor management, and related technologies.
  • Conduct facility security assessments, vulnerability reviews, and incident investigations.
  • Establish standards for physical security, restricted areas, visitor protocols, and emergency response.
  • Coordinate with Facilities, Enterprise IT, property management, law enforcement, and service providers.
  • Ensure physical security controls meet government security and contractual requirements.

Executive Protection & Travel Security

  • Develop and operate Hawkeye’s global travel security and personnel protection program.
  • Conduct travel risk assessments, provide pre‑travel briefings, and oversee incident response protocols.
  • Coordinate cybersecurity precautions for international travel in partnership with the CISO and Enterprise IT.
  • Provide personal security guidance to executives and high‑risk personnel.
  • Manage post‑travel reporting or debriefings as required.

Counterintelligence Awareness & Threat Reporting

  • Lead Hawkeye’s counterintelligence awareness program, including training on elicitation, insider threats, and suspicious activities.
  • Establish and maintain reporting procedures for potential foreign intelligence targeting.
  • Collaborate with the CISO on overlapping risks such as social engineering and insider threats.
  • Maintain relationships with government counterintelligence organizations and stay current on emerging threats.

Industrial Security & Government Compliance

  • Serve as Hawkeye’s designated FSO, meeting all associated qualifications and responsibilities.
  • Administer NISPOM (32 CFR Part 117) requirements, facility clearances, and classified program obligations.
  • Maintain security documentation, manage inspections, respond to DCSA reviews, and oversee classified access.
  • Coordinate with contracting teams on DD Form 254 requirements and contract‑specific security provisions.
  • Identify deficiencies, implement corrective actions, and maintain audit‑ready security records.

Security Training, Awareness & Engagement

  • Deliver comprehensive enterprise security training across PERSEC, physical security, counterintelligence, and personal safety.
  • Provide executive and traveler‑specific briefings.
  • Maintain records of security training and develop clear, practical security guidance for employees.
  • Partner with the CISO to ensure consistency with cybersecurity awareness efforts.

Security Incident Response & Risk Management

  • Lead operational response to physical, personnel, and facility security incidents.
  • Conduct investigations, document findings, coordinate with HR, Legal, and government authorities as required.
  • Support insider risk management and participate in enterprise crisis response and business continuity planning.
  • Escalate significant risks or incidents to the CISO and CIO.

Security Governance, Leadership & Executive Reporting

  • Provide regular reporting to the CISO and CIO on security risks, personnel security status, incident trends, and compliance obligations.
  • Manage security budgets, vendors, service providers, and technology investments.
  • Participate in enterprise security strategy, risk reviews, and investment planning.
  • Ensure all government reporting requirements are fulfilled promptly and accurately.

Your skills and qualifications:
Essential education and experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in industrial, physical, personnel, or corporate security roles.
  • Experience as an FSO, Assistant FSO, or senior industrial security leader in a regulated or cleared environment.
  • Strong knowledge of NISPOM, DCSA processes, and personnel security systems such as DISS/NBIS.
  • Experience managing physical security systems and conducting facility assessments.
  • Experience developing and delivering security training programs.
  • Familiarity with international travel risks, foreign intelligence threats, and insider threat indicators.
  • Strong judgment, discretion, communication, and investigation skills.

Desirable:

  • Current or prior U.S. Government clearance (Secret or Top Secret).
  • CDSE FSO training, ISP, PSP, CPP, or similar certifications.
