POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Branch Coordinator, the Tool Room and Shop Equipment Attendant stocks and inventories tools and issues tools to and receives and inspects tools returned by technicians.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Sorts and stocks all tools appropriately on shelves, racks, or in drawers.
- Enters all tools in DBS in the proper SOS with a part number, description, and location.
- Issues tools to technicians upon request including preparation of a DBS document similar to a work order transaction.
- Physically receives tools from mechanics when their work is complete and performs the following:
- Inspects the tool for damage, loose connectors, wires, etc., and in some cases repairs tools as directed.
- Notifies the manager or Leadperson of any damaged tools.
- Credits the tool to the Work Order using DBS (removing it from the work order and showing it available for use again).
- Prepares tool lists in advance for jobs, upon direction from manager or Leadperson.
- Services shop trucks and repairs shop equipment.
- Assists in Oil Lab.
- Maintains wash rack.
- Keeps track of bulk oil receipts and issues.
- Maintains the service manual library.
- Keeps track of shop supply inventories – hand towels and cleaning item purchases and issues.
- Uses an air wrench, hand tools, special tooling for truck repairs, special tooling to repair shop equipment, and service manuals.
- Operates crane or boom truck to clean wash rack, forklifts, welders, and torches.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a valid Drivers License with a good driving record.
- Must have PC skills.
- Must have the ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
- Must be forklift certified or able to be certified within 60 days.
- Must be able to read and understand service manuals.
- Must have the ability to troubleshoot the need for repairs on tools.
- Must be able to repair tools without the use of manuals.
- Must have the ability to work with minimal supervision.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Walking: Moves about on foot, often through uneven terrain and up and down stairs.
- Hands/arms: Operates equipment and hand and power tools.
- Handling: Seizes, helps, or works with hands.
- Lifting: Raises or lowers miscellaneous equipment parts and tools.
- Reaching: Extends hands and arms in any direction.
- Stooping: Bends body downward and forward by bending at knees or waist.
- Standing: Remains in standing position if required to perform various functions of the job.
- Climbing: In and out of equipment.
- Vision: Reads work tickets and parts and service books and operates equipment.
- Talking: Communicates by radio, phone, and in person.
- Hearing: Hears well enough to discern mechanical problems for safety in and around shop and construction sites and to receive communication by radio, phone, and in person.
- Sitting: Sits in equipment and vehicles for extended periods.
- Lifting: Lifts up to 60lbs. daily, frequent exertion.
ENVIRONMENTAL:
- Noise: Works in conditions with constant or intermittent noise.
- Temp/Weather: Works outside and in a shop with variations of temperature and weather.
- Exposure: Subject to foul odors, fumes, and harsh substances.
