Job Title: Wear Specialist

Reports to: Corporate Product Support Sales Manager            

FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Summary:  Create and maintain an environment that results in profitable aftermarket wear parts and service sales.  Identify and implement a business plan to increase sales for UC/GET and paving in San Diego and Hawaii.  Attend Caterpillar training and provide education and coaching to customer facing Hawthorne employees on aftermarket solutions. 

 

Essential Functions: 

  1. Resident owner of the sales & service strategy for wear parts product.
  2. Leverages analytics (ex. OLGA, BCS) to identify & define highest growth opportunities and set targeted customer segments / product customer segments and/or solutions for growth.
  3. Introduction of Hawthorne’s parts and service capabilities to all customers and effectively market/communicate offerings and campaigns that position Hawthorne as the clear Product Support choice.
  4. Develop E-commerce and other business opportunities for all assigned accounts, provide quotes and close sales.
  5. Prospect and develop assigned accounts and provide parts and service to meet customer needs.
  6. Devise, forecast and create a business plan for assigned territory or customers.
  7. Maintain customer contact information, sales call reports and weekly call planners.
  8. Defines and aligns the Sales to Users (STU), Revenue & POPS targets by parts product with the Product Support leadership team.
  9. Develops deep understanding of competitive landscape by visiting customers in targeted markets.
  10. Develops expertise in parts product (via training, research, NPI, customer visits, etc.) and deploys to sales team.
  11. Coordinates with Parts Manager for inventory recommendations.
  12. Assesses Cap & Cap to identify any impediments to execution plan.
  13. Develops targeted customer list with Key Account Managers and deploys to sales team.
  14. Coordinates with Product Support Manager on Sales calls planning and coverage by territory and by channel (PSSR or ISR).
  15. Identifies, deploys and implements marketing programs for targeted market segment(s) to the sales team.
  16. Coordinates with marketing department to identify appropriate marketing channels to be leveraged (including digital and/or E-commerce platforms).
  17. Deploys training to ISRs, PSSRs, Service supervisors, Parts Counter, Marketing team and Machine Sales Reps.
  18. Supports field testing data to Caterpillar for new product introductions (NPI), product issues and competitive studies.
  19. Disseminates part number changes & NPI/value messaging throughout the dealership.
  20. Adjusts campaigns or marketing programs, when necessary, to achieve targets.
  21. Makes joint sales calls on existing and prospective customers with internal and external sales people.
  22. Oversee Paver lifecycles utilizing Caterpillar’s measurements and guidelines with concentration on wear items.
  23. Works safely at all times.  Adheres to all applicable safety policies. Complies with all company policies, procedures and standards.
  24. Perform any job that may be assigned as necessary to meet the company, department or individual goals and objectives.

 

Knowledge Skills and Abilities: 

  1. Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers.
  2. Ability to analyze data and report findings.
  3. Technical skills sufficient to be able to work through product issues.
  4. Must have mechanical aptitude.
  5. Must be able to travel outside San Diego County area several times a year.

 

Education, Experience, and Skills Required:

  1. Proof of high school diploma or General Education Cert.
  2. Preferred minimum of 2-years’ experience in a related job or field.
  3. Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.
