Role Overview

The Rheumatologist Advisor will play a key role in evaluating investment opportunities, conducting clinical due diligence, and advising healthcare startups on rheumatology-related innovations. The Rheumatologist will assess emerging autoimmune disease treatments, AI-driven rheumatology tools, tele-rheumatology platforms, and precision medicine solutions, ensuring their alignment with real-world rheumatology practice and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Investment Due Diligence & Market Evaluation

• Evaluate the clinical validity, safety, and efficacy of rheumatology-focused healthcare technologies.
• Assess AI-driven rheumatology tools, digital health platforms for autoimmune disease management, and emerging therapies for rheumatic conditions.
• Analyze the regulatory landscape (FDA, CMS, HIPAA, CPT coding, and reimbursement models) for rheumatology-related innovations.
• Provide risk assessment and feasibility analysis for startups developing biologics, disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs), and remote monitoring solutions for Rheumatologists.

Strategic & Portfolio Company Support

• Offer clinical expertise to portfolio companies developing rheumatology-focused solutions, including tele-rheumatology, remote patient monitoring for inflammatory arthritis, and AI-assisted imaging for musculoskeletal diseases.
• Advise on reimbursement strategies, payer integration, and regulatory challenges specific to rheumatology medical devices, biologics, and diagnostics.
• Support rheumatology startups in designing clinical trials, Rheumatologist adoption strategies, and patient engagement models.
• Assist in recruiting Rheumatologist key opinion leaders (KOLs) and establishing rheumatology advisory boards for healthcare startups.

Industry Thought Leadership & Networking

• Stay ahead of emerging trends in rheumatology, including personalized medicine, AI-driven autoimmune disease diagnostics, wearable technology for arthritis, and digital therapeutics.
• Represent the firm at rheumatology investment summits, ACR (American College of Rheumatology) conferences, and industry panels focused on rheumatology innovation.
• Engage with Rheumatologists, immunologists, pharmaceutical executives, biotech innovators, and policymakers to expand the firm’s presence in rheumatology-focused venture capital.

Qualifications

• Board-certified Rheumatologist (MD or DO) with clinical experience in rheumatology, autoimmune disease management, or musculoskeletal medicine.
• Strong knowledge of rheumatology reimbursement models, drug development in autoimmune diseases, and regulatory frameworks in rheumatologic care.
• Experience with healthcare startups, digital rheumatology platforms, precision medicine, or venture capital is a plus.
• Analytical skills for evaluating rheumatology-focused clinical data, business models, and autoimmune care technology platforms.
• Excellent communication skills to bridge the gap between Rheumatologists, investors, and healthcare entrepreneurs.
