Role Overview
The Pathologist Advisor will play an integral role in evaluating investment opportunities, conducting clinical due diligence, and advising healthcare startups on best practices for clinical validation, regulatory compliance, and market adoption. As a pathologist, your expertise will be crucial in ensuring that new innovations align with real-world clinical needs and healthcare regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Investment Due Diligence & Market Evaluation

• Assess clinical viability, safety, and efficacy of new healthcare technologies from a pathology perspective.
• Analyze diagnostic tools, digital health innovations, and medical devices with relevance to pathology practices.
• Evaluate regulatory pathways (FDA, CMS, HIPAA) and reimbursement potential, especially for technologies impacting pathology and laboratory medicine.

Strategic & Portfolio Company Support

• Provide clinical expertise to portfolio companies developing solutions for pathology-related conditions and diagnostics, including cancer detection, genetic testing, and laboratory management.
• Advise on value-based care models, reimbursement strategies, and integration of pathology solutions within healthcare systems.
• Support startups with clinical trial design, physician adoption, and patient engagement strategies.
• Assist in recruiting pathology key opinion leaders (KOLs) and building advisory boards.

Industry Thought Leadership & Networking

• Stay ahead of emerging trends in pathology, digital health, and healthcare policy.
• Represent the firm at healthcare investment conferences and industry events, particularly in the diagnostic and pathology sectors.
• Engage with pathologists, laboratory professionals, hospital systems, and policymakers to strengthen the firm’s presence in diagnostic innovation.

Qualifications

• Board-certified Pathologist (MD or DO) with clinical experience in pathology.
• Strong understanding of pathology reimbursement models, healthcare economics, and policy frameworks.
• Experience with startups, digital health, or healthcare venture capital is a plus.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to evaluate clinical data, business models, and healthcare innovations from a pathology perspective.
• Excellent communication skills to bridge the gap between clinical pathologists and investors.
