We provide the powerful infrastructure every care delivery organization needs. On the surface this includes EHR, Scheduling, Engagement, Billing, Data, and much more. Underneath the iceberg are thousands of configurations, settings, widgets, automations, and limitless capabilities because we are an API-first platform. Our fully brandable platform makes it easy for clinics and organizations of any size to scale and never reach a limit.

Today, over 3 billion API calls are made to Healthie every month, as thousands of organizations who work with more than 21 million patients in total, rely on Healthie to deliver clinically excellent healthcare in over 35 specialties, from behavioral healthcare to complex chronic care management and personalized medicine.

We believe in the power of technology to improve access to healthcare and we’re building the rails that make this a reality. We work fast and with quality because we provide business-critical, healthcare-critical software that clinicians and patients need for a better healthcare system. We’re customer-obsessed, operate with lightning-fast processes and responses, and always share our product roadmap publicly-  so customers can see what we’re building, and remain relentlessly focused on how care gets delivered.

Healthie is backed by leading investors, and while we've $42M raised to date, more importantly, we operate with fiscal responsibility and have been profitable for more than half of our time as a company. We know that building an ONC-Certified EHR is a lifetime’s body of work, and we are here to build for our customers forever.

About the role

We’re looking for an exceptional Engineering Manager to lead one of our Backend engineering teams at Healthie. This role offers a unique opportunity to guide a high-impact team responsible for the scalability, reliability, and performance of Healthie's most critical systems -- including billing, insurance, and payments infrastructure -- ensuring our platform continues to meet the needs of providers, patients, and partners as we grow.

As an Engineering Manager for Core R&D, you’ll be accountable for driving execution within your squads, overseeing the design, development, and maintenance of core systems and services. You’ll work closely with Product, Engineering, and cross-functional business partners to translate requirements into scalable, performant solutions that power Healthie’s infrastructure and product experiences.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, mentoring, and coaching engineers within your squad to foster technical excellence, growth, and collaboration.
  • Owning execution of your squad’s roadmaps, ensuring clear prioritization, accountability, and delivery of high-impact initiatives.
  • Partnering with peers across Engineering and Product to shape architectural decisions, balance trade-offs, and drive long-term system reliability.
  • Championing engineering best practices to deliver secure, performant, and maintainable code.
  • Creating an environment where engineers feel empowered, supported, and motivated to do their best work.

At Healthie, we are AI-enabled and AI-accelerated in how we build. We are looking for team members who actively leverage AI-powered development tools, embrace automation, and help teams adopt modern, AI-assisted engineering practices to increase velocity and quality.

About you

This is the ideal role for someone passionate about building and scaling high-performing engineering teams while staying close to the technical details. You thrive in a pod-based structure where collaboration, ownership, and accountability are shared. Our ideal candidate is:

  • A proven leader: experienced in managing engineering teams, driving execution, and building trusted relationships.
  • Focused on people and systems: equally committed to supporting engineer growth and building robust, scalable infrastructure.
  • Collaborative: effective at partnering across teams and ensuring alignment to company goals.

This role is a chance to make a direct impact on Healthie’s core technology, lead exceptional engineers, and ensure our systems remain resilient and scalable as we continue to grow.

  • Technical: Strong hands-on experience with our stack — Rails, React, TypeScript, GraphQL, Postgres, Redis, Sidekiq, RSpec, and Capybara — plus a broad foundation in distributed systems and cloud infrastructure.
  • Mobile-Aware: Experience building or collaborating on mobile applications (iOS, Android, or React Native) and designing APIs and systems that support high-quality mobile experiences. Comfortable considering mobile performance, usability, and platform constraints when building full-stack features.
  • Leader: Proven ability to coach engineers, set priorities, and drive execution while fostering growth, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Communicator: Clear and effective in writing and async communication, able to simplify complex topics for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Independent: Organized, self-directed, and proactive in problem-solving—able to identify solutions and remove blockers quickly.

Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 07/31/2029

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
