TEST (Andie) - Broadcast Director of Engineering
WMUR TV, the ABC affiliate in Manchester, NH, has an opening for a Director of Engineering. The Director of Engineering will lead the station’s technical and operational teams and demonstrate the ability to organize, plan, manage, document and complete assignments within a live broadcast environment. You will work in collaboration with department heads and directly oversee the daily operation of the station. We are looking for a leader with experience in broadcast excellence and teamwork, a passion for serving the local community and the ability to embrace the challenges and opportunities of an evolving industry. You will report directly to the General Manager.
Responsibilities
- Manage and schedule technical and operational staff.
- Oversee studio and field equipment that supports broadcast and on-air program streams.
- Manage the daily operation of the station, including mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
- Monitor multiple on-air channels while maintaining regulatory compliance and quality control.
- Lead budgeting and capital planning for engineering and technical operations.
- Support the maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of studio and field equipment.
- Oversee IT integrity, infrastructure and related technical systems.
- Maintain transmitter, satellite antenna systems, automation, signal distribution and routing systems.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of television maintenance, FCC requirements and licensing and OSHA guidelines.
Requirements
- Five or more years of experience in broadcast operations.
- Three or more years of management experience.
- FCC General Class License, SBE certification or related technical certification preferred.
- Strong knowledge of broadcast engineering systems, station operations and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to lead teams, manage priorities and resolve technical issues in a live broadcast environment.
- Related military experience will be considered.
