Senior/Staff Structures Analyst
At Heart Aerospace we develop the ES-30, a regional hybrid-electric airplane with a capacity of 30 passengers, an electric zero-emission range of 200 km and an extended hybrid range of 400 km. Heart is targeting type certification of the ES-30 by the end of the decade.
Your mission
Heart is building a hybrid, battery-electric regional aircraft to decarbonize and democratize aviation. The aircraft fuselage and wing are fully composite and designed in-house, with aluminum substructure and fittings. You'll be responsible for conducting in-depth analyses of airframe structures, guiding design decisions, and contributing to the development of best practices. This role requires a high level of expertise in structural analysis and the ability to mentor and guide others.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Performing advanced structural analysis using classical methods and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools (e.g., Nastran, Patran, Abaqus).
- Developing complex FEA models for static, dynamic, fatigue, and fracture mechanics analyses.
- Generate high quality 3D CAD models and 2D Drawings.
- Analyzing and interpreting complex analysis results, and providing comprehensive reports and recommendations.
- Leading collaboration with design engineers to optimize structural designs for performance, weight, and reliability.
- Performing advanced hand calculations to validate FEA results and evaluate preliminary designs.
- Developing and improving stress analysis methodologies, processes, and tools.
- Leading design reviews and presenting detailed analysis findings to stakeholders.
- Planning and supporting structural testing programs, including test setup, data acquisition, and correlation with analysis.
- Investigating complex structural issues, identifying root causes, and developing effective solutions.
- Mentoring and providing technical guidance to junior structural analysts.
You'll Bring These Qualifications For Senior Structures Analyst:
- 5+ years professional experience in structural analysis within the aerospace industry.
- Extensive proficiency in using FEA software (e.g., Nastran, Patran, Abaqus, ANSYS), including analysis of composite structures.
- In-depth knowledge of aerospace materials, structural design principles, and failure criteria.
- Strong experience in static, dynamic, fatigue, and fracture mechanics analysis. Strong engineering fundamentals.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Passion for aircraft and Heart’s mission.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
You'll Bring These Qualifications For Staff Structures Analyst:
- 8+ years professional experience in structural analysis within the aerospace industry.
- Extensive proficiency in using FEA software (e.g., Nastran, Patran, Abaqus, ANSYS), including analysis of composite structures.
- In-depth knowledge of aerospace materials, structural design principles, and failure criteria.
- Strong experience in static, dynamic, fatigue, and fracture mechanics analysis. Strong engineering fundamentals.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
These Qualifications Would Be Nice to Have:
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Experience with structural optimization software and techniques.
- Strong understanding of the fundamental mechanics of composite materials.
- Experience with hands-on production of composite and aluminum parts. Strong grasp of capabilities and limitations of a range of manufacturing methods.
- Familiarity with aerospace regulatory requirements (e.g., FAA, EASA).
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python) for automating analysis processes.
- Extensive knowledge of design, analysis, manufacturing, and integration of composite structures.
- Experience in leading structural analysis projects.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
