Senior/Staff Aerodynamics Engineer

At Heart Aerospace we develop the ES-30, a regional hybrid-electric airplane with a capacity of 30 passengers, an electric zero-emission range of 200 km and an extended hybrid range of 800 km. Heart is targeting type certification of the ES-30 by the end of the decade.

Your mission

Heart is building a hybrid, battery-electric regional aircraft to decarbonize and democratize aviation. As a Senior Aerodynamics Engineer on the Flight Performance and Simulation team, you will be responsible for the development and optimization of the aerodynamic model of the aircraft.

You'll Bring These Qualifications For Senior Aerodynamics Engineer: 

  • 5+ years professional experience in aerodynamics design
  • Advanced proficiency in FlightStream, CFD++, or similar aerodynamics CFD tools.
  • Experience in grid generation and meshing techniques for various geometries, ensuring accurate and efficient simulations.
  • Extensive aerodynamics design experience, including CFD analysis, wind tunnel testing, correlating analysis with test data, and optimization.

You'll Bring These Qualifications For Staff Aerodynamics Engineer: 

  • 8+ years professional experience in aerodynamics design
  • Advanced proficiency in FlightStream, CFD++, or similar aerodynamics CFD tools.
  • Experience in grid generation and meshing techniques for various geometries, ensuring accurate and efficient simulations.
  • Extensive aerodynamics design experience, including CFD analysis, wind tunnel testing, correlating analysis with test data, and optimization.

These Qualifications Would Be Nice to Have:

  • Knowledge of fluid dynamics analysis and simulation and ability to select appropriate models for different flow regimes.
  • Strong fundamentals including knowledge of simplified formulas for hand-calcs, semiempirical methods, and when to apply different approaches.
  • Software development experience in Python or a similar language. Experience setting up scripted optimization pipelines that include aerodynamic solvers.
  • Experience with aircraft development programs, for example FAA Part 23 or 25.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills in English
  • Flight experience, for example Private Pilot (PPL) or above.

Education

  • Bachelor's or above in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or similar
Base Pay Range: 
$140,000—$216,000 USD
