Director, Revenue Technical Accounting
Heartflow is a medical technology company advancing the diagnosis and management of coronary artery disease, the #1 cause of death worldwide, using cutting-edge technology. The flagship product—an AI-driven, non-invasive cardiac test supported by the ACC/AHA Chest Pain Guidelines called the Heartflow FFRCT Analysis—provides a color-coded, 3D model of a patient’s coronary arteries indicating the impact blockages have on blood flow to the heart. Heartflow is the first AI-driven non-invasive integrated heart care solution across the CCTA pathway that helps clinicians identify stenoses in the coronary arteries (RoadMap™Analysis), assess coronary blood flow (FFRCT Analysis), and characterize and quantify coronary atherosclerosis (Plaque Analysis). Our pipeline of products is growing and so is our team; join us in helping to revolutionize precision heartcare.
Heartflow is a publicly traded company (HTFL) that has received international recognition for exceptional strides in healthcare innovation, is supported by medical societies around the world, cleared for use in the US, UK, Europe, Japan and Canada, and has been used for more than 500,000 patients worldwide.
As the Director of Technical Revenue Accounting, you will serve as a primary architect of the company’s revenue recognition policies. You will oversee the interpretation and application of ASC 606 (Revenue from Contracts with Customers) across all products, global entities, and complex deal structures. This is a high-impact role that requires a blend of deep technical expertise, commercial savvy, and the ability to communicate complex accounting outcomes to non-finance stakeholders.
We are looking for a sharp, high-energy revenue account subject matter expert to lead our technical revenue operations and support month-end execution. This is a critical role for someone who loves the puzzle of ASC 606, has an eagle eye for detail during close, and possesses the "builder" mindset needed to scale our revenue operations infrastructure.
Core Responsibilities
Technical Revenue Excellence
- ASC 606 Subject Matter Expert: Serve as the internal lead for all revenue-related technical accounting inquiries. Provide upfront guidance on the accounting implications of new product launches, bundles, and pricing model shifts.
- Deal Desk Collaboration: Partner with Finance, Legal and Sales during contract negotiations to provide guidance on revenue impact.
- Policy Ownership: Maintain and update the company revenue recognition policy and process documents as business models evolve.
- Audit Management: Serve as a primary point of contact for external auditors and lead the revenue portion of the financial statement audit. Prepare/review technical memos ensuring they stand up to rigorous external audit scrutiny.
Month-End Close & Review
- High-Level Oversight: Manage the revenue close process, ensuring all deadlines are met with accuracy and integrity.
- Review & Validation: Perform detailed reviews of revenue journal entries, reconciliations, rebates and deferred revenue schedules among other related items.
- Financial Reporting: Support the revenue-related disclosures for quarterly and annual financial statements.
- Flux Analysis: Support quarterly and ad-hoc revenue variance analysis (budget vs. actual and period-over-period) to provide meaningful insights to leadership and support quarterly reviews and financial statements audit requirements.
Operational Improvement & Systems
- Process Automation: Identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies within the revenue cycle. Drive requirements and implement automated solutions to reduce manual work and human error. Ensure the system logic mirrors policy requirements.
- ERP & Rebate System Optimization: Work with the Financial Systems teams to enhance system processes within the revenue recognition workflow.
- Internal Controls: Maintain and strengthen the SOX compliance environment over the revenue cycle, including the design and execution of key controls.
The Ideal Candidate
- Leadership Style: You are a "player-coach"—equally comfortable reviewing a complex reconciliation as you are presenting to senior management.
- Experience:
- Education: Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Mastery of multi-element arrangements, SSP (Standalone Selling Price) analysis, and contract modifications.
- System Savvy: Advanced Excel skills are a given; experience with NetSuite and dedicated revenue automation tools is a major plus.
A reasonable estimate of the base salary compensation range is $200,000 to $235,000, bonus, and equity.
