What You Will Be Doing:
Network Security Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure network systems to protect an Helion’s data and infrastructure from cyber threats. This role acts as the first line of defense against intrusions, ensuring that firewalls, routers, and monitoring tools are configured and managed effectively. This is an onsite role at our Everett, WA office, reporting directly to our Senior Network Security Engineer.
- Configure firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), VPNs, and proxies
- Use tools to detect suspicious activity, mitigate risks, and respond to incidents
- Investigate network vulnerabilities, hardware malfunctions, and security breaches
- Create and enforce network security policies, maintain system documentation, and ensure compliance with standards
- Work with IT, cloud, and operations teams to integrate secure solutions across platforms
- Contribute to business continuity strategies and recovery plans in case of cyberattacks or outages
Required Skills:
- 5+ years of experience in network engineering
- Technical expertise: Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, ISIS), and network architecture
- Security tools proficiency: Experience with firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM platforms, and forensic tools
- Certifications: Commonly required certifications include CISSP, CCNP Security, CEH, or CompTIA Security+
- Problem-solving ability: Analytical mindset to identify vulnerabilities and propose effective solutions
- Cloud security knowledge: Familiarity with securing cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)

Helion's compensation package includes a competitively benchmarked base salary, meaningful equity grants, and comprehensive benefits. Final compensation is determined through a holistic evaluation of your experience, qualifications, and our commitment to internal equity - ensuring fairness and transparency across our teams. We are committed to fostering a fair and equitable environment in every aspect of our operations, including compensation.
This is an exempt salaried role.
Annual Base Pay
$124,000 - $151,000 USD
