Commercial Plumbing Technician

JOB SUMMARY:

In this position, the plumbing technician will be responsible for all aspects of the installation, maintenance, inspection, operation and repair of the plumbing systems in residential and commercial buildings. This includes; installing and repairing sinks, toilets and other plumbing fixtures, as well as appliances including dishwashers and garbage disposals.  Our company offers on-the-job training and yearly wage increases as your skills develop. Starting pay is determined upon skills and experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete plumbing, drain cleaning and other related service calls.
  • Serving the clients of the company by expertly servicing customers’ entire plumbing system.
  • Wear floor savers while in the client’s home and maintaining a neat work area when performing a repair or scheduled service.
  • All techs will wear uniforms with shirts tucked in and have a belt
  • Work boots or similar style work shoes are acceptable. Sport shoes and anything that is not a work style look will not be permitted.
  • Diamondback hats must be replaced at time to be presentable.
  • Always explain to the client what service you are performing and provide up-front pricing. Explain and show the client how the company provides superior service.
  • Ability to be in an on-call position for one day a week/one weekend a month or more depending on company needs.
  • Establish customer rapport to provide the right services for each customer.
  • Ability to work each day from 8am-5pm possibly starting earlier when work orders require and/or later if required.
  • Re-check all plumbing repairs and installations after you’ve repaired or replaced it, before leaving the client’s home to ensure everything is working properly and that we did indeed fix it right the first time.
  • Show yourself as professional and knowledgeable to create new referrals and repeat business.
  • Maintain your truck so that it is neat and clean on the inside and outside at all times. The truck is one of the best billboards that the company has.  Park the truck for the maximum impact of the “billboard” when possible. Work alongside customer service and dispatch to ensure overall success of the business.
  • Be accurate and timely with invoices, time cards, curbside feedback and option sheets
  • Obey the company Code of Ethics and the Team Rules.
  • Maintain a clean, organized job site and well inventoried truck.
  • Always be safety conscious both on the job and while driving.
  • Participate actively in all training exercises, morning meetings and retreats.
  • Train and mentor apprentices to ensure quick, accurate repairs and installations.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Self-starter, reliable, flexibility with hours
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Present and communicate professionally (written and verbal)
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills on a professional and technical level
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint
  • Must be a critical thinker - Strong English composition skills
  • Ability to develop tools that create efficiencies within department

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Commercial and/or Residential Plumbing experience
  • 2+ years’ technical and trade experience
  • Current plumbing license
  • In-depth knowledge of maintenance and repairs of plumbing systems
  • Understanding of the current regulations within the field
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills on a technical level
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • General knowledge of power tools and techniques for care and safe use
  • Plumbing troubleshooting and repair
  • Provide an acceptable driver’s abstract and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Strong customer service skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Climbing up and down on ladders and equipment
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to pick-up a minimum of 25 pounds consistently and carry up to 250 feet unassisted
  • Operate handheld power tools
  • Wear personal protective equipment
  • Ability to work more than 40 hours per work week and up to 12 hours per day
