What is special about this role?
You will be part of a team of engineers based out of Helix’s new site in Mexico City. Apply your software experience to impact health outcomes and advance the state of genomic health in the world.
As a Senior Software Engineer, Enterprise, you will:
- Innovate Productivity Solutions: Spearhead the creation and implementation of new strategies and tools to enhance company-wide productivity.
- Enterprise Tool Development: Develop and optimize efficient internal enterprise tools to improve data accessibility, streamline troubleshooting processes, and drive new business growth.
- Systems Modernization: Identify and phase out outdated systems, replacing them with advanced technologies that align with Helix's current and future needs.
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with various departments to support and enhance their critical enterprise systems.
- Team Collaboration: Partner with product managers, bioinformaticians, scientists, and fellow engineers to deliver robust solutions.
- Project Ownership: Take full ownership of deliverables, from initial ideation through to production and operational deployment.
- Software Deployment and Maintenance: Ensure the reliable and scalable deployment and operation of software solutions for users and health systems.
- Best Practices: Establish and uphold strong engineering best practices across the enterprise.
- Mentorship: Mentor and guide other engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
About you:
- Experience: 6+ years of development experience with languages such as Go, Python, Java, or TypeScript/JavaScript.
- Cloud Infrastructure: Proficiency with distributed systems built on cloud infrastructure (AWS or similar).
- System Architecture: Proven experience in architecting large-scale, durable backend systems.
- Thought Leadership: Demonstrated thought leadership and a successful track record in mentoring other engineers.
- Engineering Culture: Strong affinity for an engineering culture that emphasizes Agile methodologies, DevOps, and continuous delivery.
- Project Delivery: Demonstrable history of successful project deliveries.
- Location: Willingness to work onsite in Mexico City for a minimum of one day per week.
- Language Skills: Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
Pluses:
- Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science; coursework in genetics or bioinformatics is a plus.
- Regulated Systems: Familiarity with regulated software systems and entities.
- Low Code Tools: Experience with Retool or other low-code tools.

Expected Pay For This Role:
There are 2 distinct parts to your Helix offer: 1) Base Salary 2) Annual Bonus
Expected Helix Annual Base: $1,148,000 - $1,553,000MXN
Expected Helix Discretionary Annual Bonus: 5% of your annual salary
The salary range above is our reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role across your region. Actual starting pay will be based on non-discriminatory job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. Office Location:
Our office is located at the WeWork - Varsovia, Mexico City
- We gather intentionally in our office space once per week to work on things like pair programming/live collaboration, skillshare sessions, social segments, team lunches, and volunteering opportunities.
What To Expect During Your Onboarding Week:
We want to make sure your first week is spent learning the foundations. You will be invited to live orientation sessions and spend time with your hiring manager developing your individual roadmap to success. This experience will include sessions that cover your benefits, security & privacy training, an introduction to the OKR framework used at Helix and our communication tools and norms.
What To Expect During Your First 90 days:
First 30 days: you’ll spend time learning the Helix way, completing training and onboarding for your roles, and getting introduced to your team and relevant stakeholders. You’ll also gain a deeper understanding of our customers, our products, the impact we make in the lives of our communities, and how to thrive at Helix through participation in Helix U.
Day 30 - 60: you’ll spend time contributing to projects, deeply familiarizing yourself with team and company processes, and developing a deeper understanding of Helix’s products, services and capabilities.
Day 60 - 90: you’ll build your OKRs with your manager, start to take ownership of projects and initiatives on your team, and begin to demonstrate your impact on the Helix mission.
