Job Summary:
As the Quality Engineer at Hellbender, you will utilize statistics-based design techniques to identify and implement new product introduction and quality inspection initiatives. You will impact the overall supply chain and production process by developing quality inspection plans, analyzing inspection data, implementing corrective actions and running continuous improvement projects. You will collaborate with product development teams, supply chain teams, manufacturing engineers, machine operators, technicians, and external suppliers to qualify new products for production and ensure consistent outgoing product quality. The core responsibilities of this role are to establish and implement effective inspection methods; provide actionable insights from recorded data; and collaborate with Product Development teams on testing, validation, and inspection.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establish new product introduction and quality inspection initiatives
- Train and supervise the quality inspection team
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product development, manufacturing, and supply chain) to ensure consistent application of quality inspection techniques and standards
- Develop continuous improvement projects by applying lean, Six Sigma, or other methodologies throughout all stages of the production process
- Maintain, review, update, and create quality documents for production activities
- Develop and implement corrective and preventative actions for nonconforming material
Qualifications, Skill, and Attributes
- Associate’s degree from an accredited college or technical school in manufacturing, materials, engineering, or equivalent technical discipline
- 5+ years working in manufacturing, quality assurance/quality control, materials engineering, or mechanical engineering roles
- 2+ years of experience in an electromechanical product manufacturing environment utilizing high volume production processes such as SMT and PCB assembly highly preferred
- Expert knowledge and skills in process integration in a production environment
- Knowledge and use of statistical process control, process improvement techniques, and continuous improvement methodologies
- Ability to use production and quality measuring and test equipment; including manual, electronic, and programmable devices
- Practical experience with lean manufacturing principles and tools, identifying opportunities for and designing changes to processes
- Experience establishing quality control methodologies and procedural standards for product manufacturing
- Experience as both a project leader and individual contributor - ability to influence others while independently owning many aspects of a project
- Fluent in computer applications including MS Office applications/suites, production/procurement control systems, logic/programming, development of calculation formulas/scripts, and presentation graphics
- Strong technical documentation and presentation skills
