Hybrid – Nashville, TN | Full-Time Must live in or near Nashville, TN 

At Tend, we’re reimagining dentistry from the ground up—starting with the people who make it all happen. We’re looking for a strategic, relationship-driven Director of Payor Relations to join our Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) team and lead efforts to optimize our insurance partnerships, streamline reimbursement, and drive critical cross-functional initiatives.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of strategy, execution, and relationship management—and who knows how to connect the dots across the revenue cycle to drive business impact.

This is a hybrid role based in Nashville, TN. Candidates must be able to work from our local office 2–3 days per week.

What You’ll Do

40% – Special Projects & Strategic Initiatives

  • Lead high-priority initiatives across RCM, Operations, and Finance to improve end-to-end revenue cycle performance

  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, reduce denials, and improve reimbursement processes

  • Translate insights into action through strategic recommendations and executive-ready presentations

40% – Claims Adjudication & Revenue Optimization

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on claims adjudication processes and payer-specific requirements

  • Define and document the five essential components for clean claims, and educate internal stakeholders to reduce denials

  • Collaborate with insurance verification and billing teams to ensure accuracy and alignment

20% – Industry Engagement & Relationship Management

  • Represent Tend at industry conferences and build relationships with both in-network and out-of-network insurance companies

  • Lead contract negotiations to secure competitive rates and expanded access

  • Serve as a liaison between Tend and payor organizations to advocate for mutual success

Who You Are

  • A healthcare revenue cycle or payor relations professional with 7+ years of experience, ideally with exposure to dental payors

  • An expert in payor contracting and pricing negotiations—with a strong track record of building long-term relationships and securing favorable terms

  • Deeply knowledgeable about claims adjudication, denials, and insurance verification processes

  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint, with a talent for turning data into compelling narratives for C-suite audiences

  • Highly strategic and execution-focused—you’re comfortable taking ambiguous special projects and turning them into high-impact outcomes

  • A collaborative leader and strong communicator who can drive alignment across teams

  • Located in or willing to relocate to Nashville, TN, with the ability to work onsite 2–3 days per week
