  • Assist with refining CAD models, drawings, and analyses to meet performance and manufacturability requirements.
  • Participate in prototype builds, demonstrating a proactive willingness to learn and contribute hands-on.
  • Seek feedback on designs and incorporate guidance to improve technical quality and execution.
  • Support integration of mechanical components into airframe assemblies under guidance.
  • Assist with test setups, fixture preparation, and execution of validation procedures.
  • Document results clearly, escalate issues appropriately, and contribute to readiness reviews.
  • Demonstrate awareness of how work impacts other teams and overall system performance.
  • Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and manufacturing staff to support design and build activities.
  • Approach teamwork with respect, openness to input, and willingness to support others’ success.
  • Communicate clearly and constructively across functions, adapting style to the audience.
  • Actively look for opportunities to improve processes, documentation, and team efficiency.
  • Participate in team reviews and apply feedback to continuously improve work quality.
  • Complete assigned project tasks within defined cost, schedule, and quality parameters.
  • Take ownership of assigned work and follow through reliably on commitments.
  • Provide clear and timely updates to project engineers and support progress tracking.
  • Contribute to project success by following engineering processes and raising risks early.
  • Support subsystem documentation, prototype builds, and test readiness activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience: 0–2 years of mechanical engineering experience; internships, co-op work, or academic projects in related areas are accepted, preferably in UAV, aerospace, defense, or other complex hardware development environments.
  • Demonstrates curiosity, strong work ethic, and a desire to take on new challenges; seeks opportunities to contribute beyond assigned tasks and continuously develop skills.
  • Open to feedback, willing to learn from others, and values team success over personal recognition; shows respect for diverse perspectives and contributions.
  • Communicates effectively, collaborates across functions, and understands the impact of their work on teammates and program outcomes.
  • Foundational knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, CAD modeling, and documentation standards.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic engineering issues with guidance and apply structured problem-solving methods.
  • Adjusts to evolving technical tasks and team needs in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effectively manages priorities and meets deadlines with guidance.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and able to navigate basic digital documentation and engineering workflows.

Preferred:

  • Exposure to composite materials, airframe structures, or lightweight mechanical systems
  • Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) and drafting standards
  • Experience with common CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, or Creo)
  • Hands-on prototyping, shop, or lab experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform work in both office and light industrial/laboratory environments.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, including CAD and documentation tasks.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout engineering labs, manufacturing areas, and test sites.
  • Ability to use hands for fine manipulation, including assembling small components, operating tools, and handling test equipment.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry items up to 25–40 pounds (e.g., components, tooling, test equipment).
  • Visual acuity sufficient to read technical drawings, computer screens, and measurement instruments.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection in designated areas.
  • Ability to safely operate or work around basic lab and shop equipment with appropriate training.
  • Occasional travel may be required for testing, field support, or collaboration with other teams.
  • Ability to work in environments with varying noise levels, temperatures, and conditions typical of labs, manufacturing floors, and test ranges.

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
