Role Summary:
As a founding Fuel Cell System Product Manager, you will be responsible for creating and managing the full lifecycle of our fuel cell systems, including vehicle integration, in-field service, and recycling/reuse. This role requires a balance of technical depth, operational awareness, and strong interpersonal skills, with both inward- and outward-facing responsibilities. You will quantify and drive reductions in operational expenses across the value chain while maintaining strong customer relationships and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, high-performance products.

Your work will directly influence how our systems integrate into defense, public safety, and commercial sectors, ensuring that Heven AeroTech remains the gold standard for rugged, high-performance autonomous systems.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Provide program oversight for the end-to-end management of Heven’s fuel cell powertrains, ensuring all milestones are met from initial specifications through system and field testing, with a proactive, results-driven (hungry) mindset.
- Coordinate across electrochemical, mechanical, and electrical engineering teams to optimize system efficiency, thermal management, and user interfaces, fostering a collaborative and respectful (humble) team environment.
- Identify and manage relationships with key vendors for fuel cells and hybridization, supporting the transition from low-volume prototyping to scalable manufacturing through thoughtful, data-informed (smart) decision-making.
- Identify risks early, develop mitigation plans, and drive innovation and automation to reduce exposure, demonstrating ownership and continuous improvement (hungry).
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, suppliers, and internal teams, communicating clearly and effectively while building trust and alignment (humble and smart).
- Review program and contract expenses, reconcile with forecasts, and address unexpected costs using analytical, data-driven approaches (smart).
- Develop financial tracking and resource allocation tools, maintaining accurate documentation and capturing lessons learned to improve future performance (hungry and smart).
- Continuously evaluate processes and outcomes, leveraging data to drive improvements and lead successful program closure activities (smart).
- Uphold industry and military standards, regulations, and safety guidelines with integrity and accountability (humble).
Qualifications & Experience:
Required:
- A Master’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent.
- 5+ years working with fuel cells.
- Understanding of system integration and electrochemical systems.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite and MS Project (or similar integrated scheduling tools).
- Ability to work collaboratively and flexibly with technical and business stakeholders.
- ability to travel between sites in Virginia and Washington State.
- Ability to obtain a DOD Secret clearance. Must be a "U.S. Person" (citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual) per ITAR/EAR requirements.
Preferred:
- Experience with hydrogen system regulations.
- Experience with military certification pathways.
- Experience building integrated program schedules.
- Experience with lithium ion batteries.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in a combination of office, engineering, laboratory, manufacturing, and field environments, including production facilities and outdoor test sites.
- Ability to sit for extended periods while performing computer-based work (e.g., program management, data review, reporting), as well as stand and walk for extended periods during site visits, testing, and field operations.
- Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull equipment or materials up to 25 pounds, and up to 40–50 pounds occasionally with assistance.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and other safety gear as required in manufacturing, laboratory, or field environments.
- Ability to safely operate in environments involving hydrogen systems, fuel cell equipment, electrical systems, and mechanical assemblies in accordance with established safety protocols.
- Ability to visually inspect systems, review technical documentation, and work with digital tools and computer displays for extended periods (including close vision and screen use).
- Ability to access and navigate production, lab, and field test areas, which may include climbing stairs, ladders, or platforms.
- Ability to travel between sites and support field operations, including occasional extended hours or non-standard schedules during testing, deployment, or critical program milestones.
- Ability to work in environments that may include moderate noise, moving mechanical equipment, temperature variations, and outdoor conditions.
