Chief of Staff

Austin/Remote Within US Considered

Hexium is rebuilding America's isotope enrichment capability by modernizing Atomic Vapor Laser Isotope Separation (AVLIS) into a scalable industrial enrichment platform. As our technology matures, we're building industrial capability, navigating a complex regulatory landscape, raising capital, and establishing the operational foundation needed to commercialize a new generation of enrichment technology.

The Chief of Staff is the CEO's trusted thought partner and execution lead, helping transform the company's highest-priority objectives into coordinated action across the organization. Working closely with the CEO, you'll help prepare for and support engagements with investors, federal agencies, national laboratories, strategic partners, and the Board of Directors while ensuring key decisions, commitments, and initiatives continue moving forward.

This is not an administrative support role. It is a high-impact leadership position that requires exceptional judgment, executive presence, and the ability to move seamlessly between external engagement and hands-on execution. You'll lead cross-functional initiatives, prepare briefing materials and analyses, structure decision-making, identify organizational bottlenecks, and build the operating rhythms that enable the company to scale effectively.

Key Responsibilities

Executive Partnership

  • Serve as a trusted thought partner to the CEO, providing research, analysis, and sound judgment to support high-impact decisions.
  • Ensure the CEO is fully prepared for critical meetings, negotiations, Board meetings, and external engagements through concise briefing materials, analysis, and recommendations.
  • Drive follow-through on executive priorities, ensuring key commitments, decisions, and initiatives move from discussion to execution.

External Engagement

  • Support relationships with investors, federal agencies, national laboratories, strategic partners, and other senior stakeholders.
  • Prepare executive briefing materials, presentations, talking points, and supporting analyses for high-stakes meetings.
  • Represent the Office of the CEO with professionalism and discretion when appropriate.

Cross-Functional Execution

  • Lead complex, cross-functional initiatives spanning engineering, finance, regulatory affairs, government affairs, facilities, and corporate operations.
  • Translate executive priorities into coordinated action, driving alignment, accountability, and measurable progress across teams.
  • Identify organizational bottlenecks and recommend improvements to operating rhythms, decision-making processes, and organizational effectiveness.

Capital Formation

  • Support private fundraising activities by coordinating investor follow-up, maintaining momentum between financing rounds, and preparing investor-facing materials.
  • Help develop executive presentations, company narratives, and supporting materials for investors and other external audiences.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a Chief of Staff, strategy, external affairs, or similar externally-facing high-execution role
  • Experience supporting executive engagement with investors, government agencies, or strategic partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact confidently with senior executives and external stakeholders.
  • Exceptional executive communication skills, including executive correspondence and preparation of presentations and board/investor-facing materials.
  • Comfort operating across highly technical, regulatory, and financial domains simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to operate with significant autonomy and ambiguity, in an environment where priorities shift quickly
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • This role will be exposed to export-controlled and classified information and requires compliance with applicable export control regulations and eligibility to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience at a high-growth startup, ideally in a capital-intensive or regulated industry
  • Experience directly supporting executive-level engagement with government agencies or national laboratories
  • Experience supporting a CEO through a fundraising round
  • Management consulting background (strategy or operations focus)
  • Familiarity with the federal contracting/nuclear regulatory landscape

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • This position may be based remotely within the United States or on-site in Austin, Texas, depending on business needs.
  • Regular travel will be required to support meetings with external stakeholders. Additional travel to the company's Austin headquarters may be expected.
