About the Role :
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer with strong data architecture expertise, who can design and implement scalable data solutions, build dbt projects from scratch, and collaborate closely with product and business teams to deliver impactful data products. This role requires a combination of hands-on engineering, strategic planning, and cross-functional project leadership.
What you’ll do:
Data Architecture & Engineering
- Design and own the end-to-end data architecture, ensuring scalability, performance, security, and cost efficiency.
- Build and optimise data pipelines using modern cloud data platforms (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or similar).
- Implement best practices for data modelling (star/snowflake schemas, data vault, etc.).
- Design and maintain a robust data governance strategy, including data quality, cataloging, and lineage.
dbt Project Ownership
- Plan, architect, and implement dbt projects from scratch — including defining models, macros, config strategies, and testing frameworks.
- Establish dbt project conventions, folder structures, and documentation standards.
- Build reusable transformation frameworks, implementing CI/CD pipelines and version control (git).
Collaboration & Data Project Delivery
- Work closely with product managers, data analysts, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Lead roadmap planning for data products, including timelines, milestones, and resource planning.
- Communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and provide data-driven recommendations.
- Support analytics and reporting needs through well-designed semantic layers and metrics.
What you’ll need:
- 4+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, Analytics Engineer, or Data Architect.
- Proven ability to design and implement cloud-based data architectures (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Expert proficiency in dbt, SQL, and data transformation frameworks.
- Strong experience with data modelling, warehouse design, and ELT/ETL development.
- Proficiency with data pipeline tools (Airflow, Fivetran, Stitch, Dagster, etc.).
- Experience collaborating with product and business teams on data initiatives.
- Solid understanding of modern data stack and MDS principles.
- Strong problem-solving mindset and ownership attitude.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work in agile, cross-functional teams.
- Strategic thinker with an eye for data scalability and sustainability.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Python for data workflows.
- Familiarity with BI tools (Hex, Looker, Tableau, Power BI, Mode).
- Knowledge of MDM, data governance frameworks, or data catalog tools.
- Exposure to event-driven architectures and streaming platforms (Kafka, Kinesis).
