Director of Product Engineering

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Director to lead our product engineering organization through an exciting period of transformation and modernization. This role reports to the AVP of Engineering and requires a forward-thinking leader who can drive strategic change while building a high-performing, collaborative team culture.  

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead the transition to modern DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines, embracing DORA metrics to drive continuous improvement in team velocity and delivery performance 
  • Leverage engineering metrics and analytics to drive data-informed decisions and continuously improve team performance and productivity 
  • Partner closely with Business leadership to align technology roadmap with business priorities and ensure successful delivery of commitments 
  • Champion the adoption of AI-powered tools, code generation technologies, and LLM-based solutions to solve business problems and accelerate delivery 
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on architecture decisions as we modernize legacy applications, ensuring technical excellence and sound architectural patterns 
  • Work collaboratively with Product, DevOps, QA, Security, and Infrastructure teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery across the organization 
  • Ensure engineering practices meet security, compliance, and regulatory requirements while maintaining system integrity and data protection standards 
  • Drive innovation through evaluation of emerging technologies, proof of concepts, and R&D initiatives that position the organization ahead of industry trends 
  • Identify and eliminate knowledge silos through strategic planning, cross-functional collaboration, and comprehensive documentation standards 
  • Develop and execute technical debt management strategies that balance innovation with system stability and maintainability 
  • Oversee support operations to ensure service quality, rapid issue resolution, and continuous improvement in customer experience 
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence by encouraging engineers to engage in technical discussions, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning 
  • Build and mentor high-performing teams while driving strategic planning and organizational transformation 
  • Manage large, diverse engineering teams including near-shore and off-shore consultants, ensuring effective collaboration and delivery across distributed teams 

 

Competencies &Critical Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience managing large engineering teams, including near-shore and off-shore consulting resources 
  • Proven track record of successfully leading Agile/Scrum transformations and driving organizational change 
  • Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and modern software development methodologies 
  • Demonstrated expertise in application modernization and legacy system transformation 
  • Experience implementing AI/ML solutions and understanding of AI capabilities in software development 
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using engineering metrics to drive performance improvements 
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with ability to align technical and business priorities 
  • Strategic mindset with ability to balance long-term vision with short-term execution 

 

Experience and Requirements:

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience with at least 5 years in leadership roles 
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (Master's preferred)
