Accounting Manager

The Accounting Manager will report to the Corporate Controller and is responsible for management of Higher Logic’s general ledger and ensures financial statements are prepared timely and in accordance with GAAP. The position requires strong knowledge of GAAP and a knowledge of accounting functions from a detailed and big-picture perspective.  The Accounting Manager will be heavily involved in financial reviews and audits and perform financial and other ad hoc analyses to help the company achieve strategic and financial goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

  • Assist in guiding financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Support the protection of assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
  • Assist in monitoring and confirming financial condition by reporting on SaaS-focused KPIs and liaising with auditors as necessary.
  • Help prepare budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans.
  • Contribute to achieving budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Provide status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
  • Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Assist in managing and complying with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Must be comfortable with Journal Entries and willing to lead that process.
  • Conduct all business in accordance with Higher Logic policies and procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned

 

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Experience with creating financial statements.
  • Experience with month-end/year-end close process.
  • Experience with Netsuite preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Strong commitment to accuracy and a high level of attention to detail.
  • Exceptional computer skills in the operation and functioning of all programs used including Microsoft Office, Salesforce, and Netsuite.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management or other outside partners.
  • Positive, proactive, “can-do” attitude.

 

EXPERIENCE DESIRED:

  • Typically, has at least two years of experience at Higher Logic. May have additional years of experience prior to joining Higher Logic.
  • 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience.
  • Proven working experience in accounting and finance, preferably in a SaaS company.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
  • CPA preferred.
