Hill & Knowlton is looking for a Consultant to join our dynamic Technology team in Toronto. This represents an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse set of clients, including in the consumer and enterprise technology sectors.

The ideal candidate is an ambitious communications professional who can manage integrated communications campaigns and has an excellent track record of providing smart client counsel and landing earned media results for their clients.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Create and contribute to high-impact communications campaigns for clients, including national and regional campaigns for large brands.
  • Ensure that communication plans incorporate consistent strategies, realistic objectives, and accurate timelines.
  • Manage earned media outreach, leading the development of story angles, identifying media targets, effectively pitching stories, and coordinating interviews.
  • Draft written communications materials and control the quality of content created by others, such as pitches, advisories and news releases.
  • Apply project management skills to deliver campaigns successfully (e.g., develop and implement critical paths/work back plans to meet client deadlines and provide oversight of other team members.)
  • Leverage digital and social marketing expertise, including content development, management of creative asset development, response plans, and community management.
  • Manage ongoing measurement, tracking and reporting on client activities and results, flagging relevant information to the account team and client.
  • Proactively support new business development activities by identifying opportunities to expand business with current clients, promoting H+K services and specialties to existing clients, contributing research, analysis, and content to new business proposals, and participating in pitches.

What you'll need to get here:

  • Post-secondary degree or post-graduate certificate in communications, public relations, journalism, or a similar program, or relevant work experience.
  • 4+ years’ experience in communications roles, agency experience preferred.
  • Experience delivering public relations programs to achieve a client’s program objectives, involving several activities such as media relations, stakeholder engagement, campaign management, partner activations, social media engagement, event management, materials development, and reporting.
  • Proven ability to pitch reporters (online, print, and broadcast.)
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience with social media, digital strategies, and media monitoring tools.
  • Natural curiosity and genuine passion for storytelling.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving prowess.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills that can be applied across various platforms.
  • Ability to distill technical information and develop audience-appropriate content.
  • True team player with a can-do mindset.
