Role Overview

The Engagement Associate at Queens Hillel plays a key role in fostering a vibrant and inclusive Jewish community on campus. This position focuses on proactively connecting with new and under-involved students, building authentic relationships with students to understand their needs, interests, and identities. The Engagement Associate will help in creating a warm, welcoming, and supportive environment for Jewish students across our campuses.

What You’ll Do

  •  Identify a portfolio of students currently less engaged with Jewish life on campus and create a plan to connect them to meaningful opportunities.
  • Serve as an active member of Queens Hillel’s Student Impact Team, participating fully in all meetings and planning.
  • Build deep relationships with at least 90 individual students.
  • Develop at least 90 one-on-one relationships with Jewish students by meeting them where they live, work and/or study, utilizing creative methods to reach and interest them.
  • Participate as a member of the Hillel staff team on major programs, Shabbat, and holidays, as assigned.
  • Maintain records of programs and attendance for measurement and ongoing evaluation. 

What You’ll Bring to the Job

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 0–2 years of professional work experience.
  • A strong sense of flexibility, empathy, creativity, and humility.
  • Ability to connect with students across different backgrounds and levels of Jewish knowledge.
  • Motivation to fulfill our mission of connecting every Jewish student to Jewish life and community.
  • Flexibility to work some nights and weekends as needed.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for creating opportunities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a strong professional team. 

What You’ll Receive

  • Competitive salary in the non-profit marketplace. The total salary range for this seasonal role (January 2026- June 30, 2026) role is $23,000-$25,000, commensurate with experience.
