Technical Designer (Production)

We are seeking a motivated, experienced, and detail-oriented Technical Designer to join and support our growing Technical Design team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in garment fit, pattern making, and construction, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills. They should be capable of working independently while also thriving in a cross-functional team environment. A collaborative mindset is essential, as this role involves working closely with both internal and external partners. We're looking for someone who is passionate about improving fit and quality and who brings a proactive approach to refining processes within the team. Strong soft skills and emotional intelligence are critical, as is the ability to remain flexible when needed. Most importantly, this person should be a true team player, eager to contribute positively to the team dynamic and overall success.

 

Job Description: 

  • Partner with Design and Development teams to understand garment fit, construction, and material intent at the hand-off stage
  • Maintain and update tech packs for production, ensuring accurate construction details, POMs, and technical sketches, while keeping consistency across seasonal styles
  • Measure and evaluate incoming production samples, preparing them for fittings and analyzing for accuracy and quality
  • Attend and lead production fittings as needed, taking detailed notes while identifying issues and providing recommendations for improvements
  • Communicate style updates clearly to overseas factories in a timely manner, addressing fit, construction, and workmanship enhancements
  • Issue and approve graded specifications for photoshoot samples and at final approval stage - while conducting periodic plus-size fittings to support accurate and inclusive sizing
  • Update WIP and track factory timelines in tandem with personal workload to ensure all deliverables are on time and maintained
  • Manage personal workflow and workload to ensure timely delivery of all assigned product areas
  • Ensure fit consistency across related styles and uphold brand standards in alignment with customer feedback
  • Support TOP sample management, ensuring final samples meet all expectations
  • Provide accurate production specifications for the eCommerce team to support customer knowledge on Hill House Home product and fit
  • Perform additional duties as needed in support of company goals and daily operations

 

Skills + Requirements: 

  • 5+ years of experience in Technical Design, preferably within women’s categories. Experience with dresses and pants in a contemporary market is a strong plus; childrenswear experience is also a bonus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, or a related field

Compensation for the role will be determined based candidate’s qualifications, skills, and experience.
