About the Role:
The R&D developer of Small/Protein Molecule Development will lead a team within the Sterile Product Development (SPD) team, focusing on the design and development of new formulations and scalable processes for parenteral (Sterile) drug products. This role involves strategic planning, scientific research, and collaboration across various departments to ensure the successful progression of the small molecule parenteral portfolio from discovery to launch, while maintaining high standards of scientific excellence and compliance.
Location and shift:
This position is located in or near Los Alamitos, CA. You must work onsite Monday-Friday. The shift is 9:00am -5:00pm PST
You Will:
- Lead the small molecule parenteral drug product development in designing and executing experiments for formulation and process development.
- Document technical reports and regulatory filings related to drug product development.
- Implement strategy and conduct scientific research from laboratory to commercial scale.
- Coordinate and execute SPD initiatives in the company's portfolio from discovery to launch.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders across the organization to ensure timely progression of portfolio initiatives.
- Recruit, appraise, and develop personnel under supervision, including selecting and training staff.
- Develop and manage departmental budgets and ensure adherence to spending limits.
- Build collaborations across internal departments and with external partners.
You Have:
- Ph.D. in chemical engineering, chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, or relevant field with a minimum of 5+ years of industrial experience, or B.S./M.S. with a minimum of 8+ years of industrial experience.
- Relevant experience in pharmaceutical development with exposure to all stages of development (preclinical, clinical, and commercial).
- Experience in developing sterile and specialty products, including long-acting injectables and sterile liquid/lyophilized products.
- Knowledge of intermediate modality evaluations and parenteral formulation development.
- Experience with process design and/or scale-up in clinical or commercial settings.
Preferred:
- Recognized expertise in novel delivery technologies for small molecule or synthetic modalities.
- Experience in regulatory compliance across all phases of product development.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in building high-performing teams and motivating scientific staff.
- Experience in budget planning and management.

Conditions of Employment:
- This position will require working with Hazardous Drugs (HD) and would require that Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) be worn for the length of working with these drugs. These items would include gloves, respiratory protection, gown and other items as required.
- This position requires medical approval to wear respiratory protection in the form of negative or positive pressure respirators, including N95, full face respirator, SCBA, or Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR).
- Physical exertion required. Including, but not limited to, walking up to 50% of the time, standing up to 100% of the time, squatting and bending up to 20% of the time and lifting up to 80% of the time for up to a twelve hour shift. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
- Due to the risk of reproductive capability in handling or compounding certain Hazardous Drugs (HD) associates must be willing to confirm that they understand the potential risks (teratogenicity, carcinogenicity and reproductive effects) of handling hazardous drugs.

The actual amount will take into account a range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and location. H&H also offers a comprehensive Total Rewards package that may include an equity grant.

$130,000 - $170,000 USD
