About this role: 

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Property & Casualty (P&C) Underwriting Analyst to join our team. This role focuses on driving the strategic development and operational efficiency of the underwriting department while ensuring high-quality training and development programs for team members. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical background, exceptional communication skills, and experience in P&C underwriting processes and strategies. This role focuses on Personal Lines - Homeowners Insurance Products.  

What You'll Do:

Strategic Support: 

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement underwriting strategies that align with organizational goals 
  • Analyze market trends, portfolio performance, and industry benchmarks to identify opportunities for growth and improvement
  • Assist in the creation and execution of risk selection, pricing guidelines, and underwriting standards

Training & Development: 

  • Design, deliver, and maintain underwriting training programs to ensure team members are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills 
  • Develop and manage onboarding materials for new underwriting staff
  • Conduct workshops, seminars, and one-on-one coaching sessions to promote continuous learning

Operational Efficiency: 

  • Evaluate and optimize underwriting workflows, tools, and processes to improve efficiency and consistency 
  • Partner with IT and data teams to enhance underwriting systems, tools, and reporting capabilities
  • Monitor and report on underwriting performance metrics to identify areas for improvement

Stakeholder Collaboration: 

  • Act as a liaison between underwriting, product, and other departments to ensure cohesive and informed decision-making 
  • Communicate updates on underwriting strategies, policies, and training initiatives across relevant teams 

Compliance & Risk Management: 

  • Ensure underwriting practices comply with regulatory requirements and company policies 
  • Support audits and implement corrective actions as needed 

Must Haves: 

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in P&C underwriting or a related analytical role, preferably Homeowners
  • Demonstrated experience in training or mentoring underwriting professionals
  • Strong understanding of P&C insurance products, risk assessment, and pricing strategies
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and draw actionable insights
  • Proficiency in underwriting software, data analysis tools, and MS Office Suite
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to a fast-paced environment 

Nice To Haves: 

  • Professional designations (e.g., CPCU, ARM) are a plus
  • Experience with underwriting technology platforms and data visualization tools
