About Hippo:

Hippo was built on a promise: make homeownership effortless. Nearly a decade later, that mission still drives us. We use technology and data to help our customers stay ahead of problems and protect what matters most.

Today, that same tech-native approach powers our work beyond homeowners. Hippo operates as a diversified carrier platform, partnering with MGAs to deliver tailored program solutions that help them grow and deliver better customer experiences. Behind that work is a team that values ownership, curiosity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

If you're energized by building what's next, we'd love to meet you.

About You:

Hippo is hiring a seasoned Senior Product Manager with a proven track record of owning complex, high-stakes distribution and quoting platforms in insurance or related industries to own Hippo’s Quoting & Distribution charter. This is a strategic, high-impact role at the intersection of distribution technology, partner ecosystem, and business growth — responsible for the end-to-end quoting and binding platform including our quoting and binding orchestration, API and integrations layer, vendor data ecosystem, and application data management. You will play a key role in making this platform modern and scalable — also leveraging AI to create smarter, faster, and more scalable quoting experiences across all distribution channels.

We are looking for someone who sets aspirational goals and has the agency to deliver them — someone who can think broadly about the future of distribution technology and AI-native platforms while executing with precision in the near term.

What You’ll Do:

Strategy & Vision

  1. Define and own the multi-year product strategy and vision for Hippo’s Quoting & Distribution platform — spanning the quote and bind flow, API/integrations layer, and vendor data ecosystem.
  2. Identifyopportunities to improve quote-to-bind conversion and accelerate distribution channel growth by modernizing quoting infrastructure, expanding partner integrations, and embedding AI-native capabilities into the platform.
  3. Influence and shape company-level prioritization decisions for the quoting platform, building alignment across product, engineering, distribution, and business leadership without direct authority.
  4. Stay ahead of emerging trends indistributiontech, comparative raters, AI, and insurtech partnerships — translating them into a roadmap that positions Hippo competitively.

Execution & Delivery

  1. Own the end-to-end product lifecycle for the quoting and distribution platform: discovery, prioritization, requirements, delivery, and post-launch performance.
  2. Lead cross-functional execution of major platform initiatives, partnering with Engineering,Partnership/Distribution, Marketing, and Insurance Business Teams to deliver on time and with quality.
  3. Translate complex integration and business requirements into crisp, actionable PRDs, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  4. Drive measurable outcomes — own the metrics that matter, including GWP growth through distribution channels and quote-to-bind conversion rate.

Business & Stakeholder Partnership

  1. Serve as the primary bridge between distribution, sales, and insurance business teams and the Engineering organization — deeply understanding partner and business needs and enabling tech to meet them.
  2. Build strong partnerships with distribution partners, agents, and internal stakeholders, earning trust through consistent delivery, clear communication, and a genuine understanding of the P&C distribution landscape.
  3. Communicate strategy, tradeoffs, and outcomes to leadership with narratives grounded in data and business impact.

Platform & Integration Excellence

  1. Drive the evolution of Hippo’s quoting and binding platform — enabling faster, more reliable, and scalable quote experiences across all distribution channels.
  2. Own the API and integrations layer — managing vendor data integrations, third-party partner connections, and quoting data quality and governance.
  3. Champion AI-native thinking across the platform —identifying and driving opportunities to embed AI into quoting workflows, data enrichment, and partner experiences to increase automation, accuracy, and intelligence at scale.

Must Haves:

  1. 7+ years of experience in product management, including full ownership of the product backlog and leading the end-to-end software development lifecycle in collaboration with a team of at least four engineers, delivering impactful and user-focused solutions.
  2. Experience working with or building quoting, rating, or distribution platforms in P&C insurance or related industries. You understand how these systems work and what it takes to evolve them safely.
  3. Experience owning API-heavy or integration-dense platforms — managing third-party vendors, partner APIs, and data pipelines as core product responsibilities, with a track record of building and scaling complex platforms.
  4. Partner or channel management exposure — has worked closely alongside agents, distribution partners, or external sales channels and understands what it takes to earn and maintain their trust.
  5. Proven track recordof bridging the gap between business and engineering — translating ambiguous business problems into clear technical requirements, and helping engineering teams understand the ‘why’ behind the work.
  6. Demonstrated track record of directly improving distribution and conversion metrics — GWP growth, quote-to-bind rates, channel activation — at meaningful scale.
  7. Ability to set a compelling vision and strategy for a technical domain while simultaneously driving rigorous near-term execution. You are equally comfortable in a strategy conversation and a sprint planning session.
  8. Strong stakeholder management skills — ability to earn trust across business, technical, and executive audiences, and to navigate competing priorities with clarity and conviction.
  9. Data-driven decision making with strong analytical skills. Comfortable defining success metrics, analyzing results, and iterating with discipline.
  10. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to distill complex topics into clear narratives for diverse audiences.
  11. Product management experience in insurance, financial services, or an adjacent industry.

Nice to Haves:

  1. Experience with AI and machine learning in a quoting, distribution, or underwriting context — including hands-on experience scoping, evaluating, and deploying AI to make platforms AI-native.
  2. Familiarity with comparative rater integrations,InsurTechdistribution partnerships, or embedded insurance channels.

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
