Title: Sr. Manager, Product Marketing- New Products

Location: Austin, TX | Dallas, TX | Morristown, NJ | San Jose, CA  (Hybrid)

Reporting to: Director of Performance Marketing

About Hippo:

Hippo was built on a promise: make homeownership effortless. Nearly a decade later, that mission still drives us. We use technology and data to help our customers stay ahead of problems and protect what matters most.

Today, that same tech-native approach powers our work beyond homeowners. Hippo operates as a diversified carrier platform, partnering with MGAs to deliver tailored program solutions that help them grow and deliver better customer experiences. Behind that work is a team that values ownership, curiosity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

If you're energized by building what's next, we'd love to meet you.

About This Role:

This is a rare opportunity to build a function, not just fill a role. Hippo has led innovation in consumer home insurance since inception, and we are now standing up a product marketing discipline that carries that innovation to market. You will define what it is, how it works, and what it delivers.

Your first mandate is Hippo+: a net-new owned product — a bundled home protection offering unlike anything else in our portfolio — and one of three core engines driving Hippo's 2027 Homeowners Growth strategy.  You will be the voice, the strategist, and the architect of how we bring Hippo+ to market.

Reporting to the Director of Performance Marketing and working cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders across product, insurance, legal, and sales, you will you will drive everything from persona definition and competitive positioning to sales enablement and launch readiness. You will also direct a significant portion of the agile workforce building this product — scoping the work, setting the standard, and holding the quality line. This role sits at the intersection of product, marketing, and sales — with real authority, real visibility, and a real chance to build something that matters.

You will define the product marketing frameworks, connections, and evaluation model that every future Hippo product runs through — turning what you learn on the first launch into how this company brings anything new to market.

About You:

You’re the strategic builder who thrives on a blank page — someone who’s just as comfortable defining product narrative and enablement strategy as they are driving alignment across every agent, channel, and customer touchpoint. You bring a strong track record of taking ambitious growth initiatives from day-one concept to scale, an ability to write the playbook from scratch rather than just execute one, and a knack for creating scalable foundations that govern how new products hit the market. You’re a high-ownership, adaptable collaborator who turns complex, category-defining products into clear, compelling messaging while keeping cross-functional teams aligned and moving forward.

What You'll Do:
  • Own positioning and message hierarchy for the Hippo product, including the insurance-plus-warranty category
  • Define, refine, and maintain target personas, grounded in customer voice, data and research synthesis
  • Lead competitive intelligence across the insurance-and-warranty category, tracking competitor filings, pricing moves, and positioning changes
  • Build and maintain sales enablement content including battlecards, objection handling guides, one-pagers, and state-specific plan descriptions in partnership with Cinch
  • Develop and manage the pre-approved language library that governs what we say and how we sell Hippo products
  • Own launch readiness by state, partnering with Legal, Insurance Product, and Sales to ensure agents are equipped to sell a bundled product with Cinch coverage components
  • Drive product team alignment across marketing, including critical inputs on website, agent sales funnel, and marketing data collection
  • Lead marketing experimentation and optimization in support of the Hippo+ learning agenda
  • Direct a significant portion of Hippo's agile workforce — the specialists, agencies, and partners bringing Hippo products to life — scoping engagements, setting quality standards, and keeping the work aligned to the go-to-market plan
  • Build the durable product marketing foundation: the frameworks, templates, evaluation criteria, and stage gates that future Hippo product launches will run on
  • Deliver against hard phase gates: documented target persona and pricing risk identification by December 31, 2026; personas, state-prioritization model, and rebuilt creative locked by end of Q1 2027

Must Haves:

  • 8+ years of D2C product marketing experience, ideally within fintech, insurance, or a similarly regulated consumer category, with a proven track record of thriving in complex environments
  • A builder's mindset-you've owned positioning and launch readiness end to end, not just executed someone else's playbook
  • Experience getting excellent work out of people who don't report to you--agency, contract, or flexible- resource teams you scoped, directed, and held to a standard
  • Appetite for building the system, not just the deliverable--you have created process and frameworks where none existed and that energizes rather than drains you
  • Sharp judgement on messaging in regulated environments where legal review and partner approvals are part of the process, not an obstacle
  • A track record of building sales enablement content that actually moves conversion metrics
  • A natural collaborator who can work across Legal, Insurance Product, Sales, and external partners without losing momentum
  • Fluency with AI tools to accelerate competitive intelligence, content creation, and research synthesis--you know how to use the best tools available to do more with less
