Kitchen Technician

The Kitchen Technician’s main responsibility is to cook and infuse edibles for cannabis markets.  Will document and record results, providing reporting as needed.  Will only work with one or two types of edibles (gummies, chocolate, candy, baked goods, etc) and will work with the kitchen leadership on production schedules and timelines.  

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES 

Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Accurately measure, weigh, and count all products and materials 
  • Infuse, cook, pour, and process infused candies and/or baked goods 
  • Precisely follow all Holistic SOPs and recipes for all products 
  • Perform a series of preventive and general maintenance tasks on production equipment and tools 
  • Populate and maintain batch records specific to production batch 
  • Monitor environmental controls to ensure kitchen sanitation and cleanliness 
  • Track and maintain supplies and product inventory levels 
  • Mark and label containers, tags, and products using provided logs 
  • Properly use and maintain all tools and equipment 
  • Clean all containers, materials, supplies, work areas, and other areas using designated cleaning solutions and tools 
  • Foster a workplace that upholds Holistic Industries’ aim to be the Best Place to Work, Shop, and Invest in Cannabis 
  • Other duties as assigned, or any reasonable request from any member of management 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

General 

  • Regulations require that incumbent be at least 21 years of age and able to obtain and maintain state marijuana work credentials 

Education/Experience: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required 
  • Previous cannabis industry experience preferred, with priority given to candidates with experience in licensed facilities 
  • Experience in food manufacturing operations strongly preferred, with priority given to candidates with experience in chocolate 
  • ServSafe food handler certification 

Required Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Ability to work a varying schedule including nights, weekends, and overtime as necessary 
  • Must maintain current knowledge of and adhere to all policy and regulations of the Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED) and Department of Public Health and Environment (DPHE) 
  • Understanding of and adherence to FDA regulations 
  • Understanding of and adherence to OSHA guidelines for workplace safety and hazardous chemicals 
  • Ability to use standard office equipment, basic computer skills 
  • Proven track record of good attendance and punctuality  
  • Detail orientated and ability to communicate effectively 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, be flexible and adaptable when a situation requires, and remain calm under pressure 
  • Strong work ethic and sound judgment 

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

  • Warehouse environment with artificial lighting and ventilation 
  • Potential for mold exposure. 
  • Potential for allergic reaction to or hypersensitivity to the marijuana plants 
  • Carbon dioxide (CO2) may be encountered. CO2 can displace oxygen at high concentrations. CO2 exposure can cause symptoms such as headache, dizziness, rapid breathing, and increased heart rate; in extreme cases, unconsciousness and death can result. 
  • The warehouse is properly ventilated, however, marijuana cultivation produces ozone from the chemical reaction of nitrogen oxides and volatile organic compounds, such as terpenes that are given off from the marijuana plant. Terpenes and nitric oxides can be associated with eye, skin and mucous irritation. In some people, ozone can cause decreased lung function and/or exacerbate pre-existing health effects, especially in workers with asthma or other respiratory complications. PPE in the form of respiratory protection may be recommended in certain parts of the warehouse.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform grasping, lifting, walking, standing, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: VERY LABOR INTENSIVE. Must be able to lift, carry, and balance up to 75 pounds (125 pounds with assistance), may include walking or standing for extended periods of time, as well as stooping, bending over and/or crouching. Moderate to loud exposure to noise level.

When We Complete A Background Check

After reviewing your application, Holistic Industries may extend a conditional offer of employment. Subject to legal requirements, Holistic Industries may use a third-party vendor to conduct a background check on you. In doing so, Holistic Industries will receive your personal identifiers (name, physical address, telephone number, and Social Security number) and professional or employment information (employment history and educational history) from our vendor.   1. When You Undertake Drug-Screening

After reviewing your application, Holistic Industries may extend a conditional offer of employment. Subject to legal requirements, Holistic Industries may use a third-party vendor to conduct drug-screening.
