The purpose of the Equipment Technician is to use equipment to manufacture and package cannabis products. The position will be responsible for tracking inventory and recordkeeping for compliance.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Duties include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Safely operate, inspects and troubleshoots complex high-end extraction & packaging machinery
  • Visually inspects product to ensure accuracy and void of defects
  • Assures accuracy of product packaging and traceability, as required, which could include generating labels, labeling containers or packages and accurate product count
  • Properly use, clean, and maintain all equipment according to manufacturers’ guidelines, and troubleshoot equipment when necessary
  • Maintain an organized, clean and safe environment
  • Read, understand, and follow all associated SOPs and safety protocols
  • Contributes to continuous process improvement efforts to reduce scrap, cycle times, improve efficiency and eliminate waste
  • Maintain detailed recordkeeping; record required data in lab notebooks and computer databases
  • Understand and adhere to all applicable federal, state, and/or local laws and regulations pertaining to the cannabis industry, safety regulations, local municipal codes, and Company policies and SOPs
  • Responsible for assembly, testing, and maintenance of company equipment and read and understand equipment operations and maintenance manuals.
  • Any other reasonable request from any member of management
  • Ability to train others on use of the equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work with other departments in the facility
  • Responsible for sanitary and accurate input material preparation and handling

QUALIFICATIONS

General

  • Regulations require that incumbent be at least 21 years of age and able to obtain and maintain medical marijuana work credentials

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • 1+ years experience in a cannabis lab or automated cannabis processing setting
  • Previous experience in the cannabis industry is strongly preferred, especially experience in a licensed facility
  • Previous experience running complex equipment

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Familiarity with basic scientific principles and laboratory terminology
  • Basic math skills
  • Familiarity with OSHA guidelines regarding handling hazardous chemicals and machinery
  • Highly detail oriented and organized
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • Professional demeanor, strong work ethic
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Sanitary handling practices
  • Ability to understand machine diagrams and blueprints
  • Understanding of METRC and regulations pertaining to cannabis inventory management

 

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

  • Warehouse environment with artificial lighting and ventilation
  • Potential for mold
  • Potential for allergic reaction or hypersensitivity to the marijuana plants
  • Carbon dioxide (CO2) may be encountered. CO2 can displace oxygen at high concentrations. CO2 exposure can cause symptoms such as headache, dizziness, rapid breathing, and increased heart rate; in extreme cases, unconsciousness and death can
  • The warehouse is properly ventilated, however, marijuana cultivation produces ozone from the chemical reaction of nitrogen oxides and volatile organic compounds, such as terpenes that are given off from the marijuana Terpenes and nitric oxides can be associated with eye, skin and mucous irritation. In some people, ozone can cause decreased lung function and/or exacerbate pre-existing health effects, especially in workers with asthma or other respiratory complications. PPE in the form of respiratory protection may be recommended in certain parts of the warehouse.

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to perform grasping, lifting, walking, standing, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: VERY LABOR INTENSIVE. Must be able to lift, carry and balance up to 75 pounds (125 pounds with assistance), may include walking or standing for extended periods of time, as well as stooping, bending over and/or crouching. Ability to tolerate moderate to loud exposure to noise level. Exposure to long periods of bright lights. Long periods of prolonged use of office equipment including computers and phones.
