The Payroll Clerk works closely with the Payroll Manager, Payroll Specialist, and Human Resources to drive the in-house payroll process.  This includes gathering payroll data, correcting discrepancies, inputting information into payroll systems, and detailed auditing. The Payroll Clerk will research and resolve payroll discrepancies in a thorough and timely manner, and respond to employee inquiries in a positive, timely and professional manner as well as perform numerous audits to help ensure accurate pay.

Detailed Responsibilities

Process payroll cycles for 2,500+ employees in multiple states, following weekly and biweekly pay schedules

  • Ensure all employee and timesheet information is accurate for weekly payroll for hourly employees and biweekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees
  • Track down missing documentation and information and resolve discrepancies with payroll data
  • Audit payroll data such as incorrect status, rate, etc, and take action to correct
  • Input payroll data; review and research any payroll irregularities to bring to a resolution

Support field HR teams and assist employees in a positive and professional manner with their payroll inquiries

  • Respond to employee payroll-related inquiries; research and coordinate any necessary payroll corrections
  • Work with field HR to ensure proper documentation and accuracy of payroll data
  • Administer Kronos training for employees, managers and field HR

Process final paychecks in accordance with state laws

  • Calculate and issue final paychecks for California terminations on an ongoing basis
  • Work with field HR to ensure compliance with final pay regulations in all states

Other projects as assigned

  • Understand and assist with the implementation of new policies and procedures determined by HR or relevant labor law
  • Provide ad hoc reporting as requested by Finance leadership and other cross-functional partners
  • Other projects as assigned

Qualifications

  • General high school degree, or equivalent, (e.g. GED)
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Google products, specifically Excel
  • ADP Workforce Now and/or Kronos Workforce Ready experience a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Positive attitude and enthusiasm for the job, with a focus on execution and results
  • Demonstrates professionalism and maintains confidentiality of employee and company information at all times
  • Detail oriented, organized and be able to juggle multiple tasks and communicate effectively
  • Able to work well under pressure and have a sense of urgency to make payroll deadlines
  • Ability to identify issues, problem solve and follow through to resolution
