The Inventory Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the inventory team for their shift, ensuring that each required task is executed and conducted properly and safely.  The Inventory Supervisor is also responsible for anticipating and troubleshooting issues as they arise and managing the performance of inventory clerks on their shift with little guidance; using all information available and collaborating with other stakeholders as needed. The Inventory Supervisor must demonstrate proficiency in all inventory functions and processes and ensure compliance with standard procedures on a daily basis. The Inventory Supervisor is accountable for tracking the quantities and organization of all inventory held throughout the warehouse spaces and ensuring the inventory team is creating and promoting a safe workplace. 

Detailed Responsibilities

Food and Non-Food Inventory 

  • Works with procurement team to coordinate cycle counts based on inventory schedule (daily and weekly food, packaging, end of week and end of month physical inventories)
  • Works with gatekeepers and production to ensure accuracy of finished goods tracking and storage to preclude waste due to inaccurate recordkeeping, portioning, and storage
  • Works with inventory team to communicate potential shorts to procurement teams
  • Works with inventory, production, and procurement teams to gather starting inventory of raw goods and excess production finished or decanted goods for upcoming menus
  • Works with Inventory Team to provide accurate dates and numbers for  excess or aging product weekly; working with procurement teams to substitute or discard timely 
  • Ensures active weeks’ products are being issued in correct FIFO/FEFO via auditing
  • Works with Inventory Manager to conduct audit of inventory data to ensure accuracy for purchasing and production planning decisions
  • Partners with warehouse and production teams to maintain organization of storage areas

Supervision of Inventory Personnel

  • Executing weekly cycle counts of food and packaging inventory for procurement needs
  • Executing end-of-week blind counts of food and packaging inventory for financial evaluation
  • Ensures all inventory clerks are accurately using the WMS. Coaching discussions with other department heads may be necessary in the event the needs arise
  • Partners with local procurement, warehouse, FSQA and other teams on all inventory related matters amidst an agile business environment
  • Develops an environment that is conducive to teamwork and collaboration
  • Communicates job expectations clearly and builds departmental standards for performance
  • Manages attendance reports and follows up on assigned points and coaching for inventory team members
  • Conducts rotational check-ins with all members of inventory team to ensure all team members are progressing against task lists and communicated expectations of performance
  • Ensures all inventory clerks have been properly trained to safely move materials within the facility. Expected to audit the team during daily interactions and floor presence
  • Ensures all inventory associates have been properly trained in standard operating procedures for the inventory department
  • Conducts performance evaluations for inventory clerks in a detailed and timely manner
  • Coaches through positive reinforcement or constructive feedback  as necessary and maintains record of all coaching actions
  • Works with Inventory Manager to manage scheduling and time off requests

Home Chef offers the base salary range as posted below, with the exact offer depending on factors such as geographic location, experience, skills, and internal equity. While compensation is within the provided range, it is not typical for offers to be made at the upper end. In addition to base salary, Home Chef provides a comprehensive benefits package, including healthcare coverage, 401k match, and paid time off.

Maryland Pay Range

$65,000 - $72,000 USD
