Operations & Warehouse Superintendent - 1st Shift - Days Off: Sunday & Monday

This role follows a 1st shift schedule, working from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with designated days off on Sunday & Monday.


The Warehouse Operations Superintendent is responsible for managing and optimizing the flow of products between Inbound, Outbound, and Operations within the plant. This role ensures seamless coordination across teams to support timely product movement in and out of coolers while upholding safety, quality, and efficiency standards. The Superintendent acts as the primary point of contact between Warehouse, Production, and other cross-functional teams, ensuring product availability, accuracy, and traceability throughout the process lifecycle.

Supervision of Core Warehouse Functions:

The Warehouse Operations Superintendent must demonstrate proficiency in all warehouse functions and processes and ensure compliance with standard procedures on a daily basis. The Warehouse Operations Superintendent is accountable for maintaining the layout and organization of all warehouse spaces and ensuring the inbound/outbound team is creating and promoting a safe workplace. 

Supervision of Warehouse Personnel:

The Warehouse Operations Superintendent  is responsible for leading the warehouse ops team on their shift. Superintendent responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Adheres to safety related procedures and works with associates to create “safety first” work environment 
  • Develops an environment that is conducive to teamwork and collaboration
  • Communicates job expectations clearly and builds departmental standards for performance
  • Lives the Home Chef Values and models our Home Chef Competencies
  • Manages attendance reports and follows up on assigned points and coaching
  • Conducts rotational check-ins with all members of warehouse team to ensure all team members are progressing against task lists and communicated expectations of performance
  • Works with team leads and associates to problem solve when issues arise 
    • Ensures that immediate and long term solutions are put in place to preclude future occurrences 
    • Escalate the issue and resolution to idea share with other shifts and other plants
  • Ensures all warehouse associates have been properly trained to safely move materials within the facility. Expected to audit the team during daily interactions and floor presence.
  • Ensures all warehouse associates have been properly trained in standard operating procedures for the warehouse department
  • Audits the P.I.T. checklists for the department to ensure that all equipment being used has had a pre-shift operational check   
  • Ensures all warehouse associates are using WMS.  Driving accuracy and efficiency daily. 
  • Conducts performance evaluations for warehouse leads and associates in a detailed and timely manner
  • Coaches through positive reinforcement or constructive feedback  as necessary and maintains record of all coaching actions
  • Develops team leads to effectively oversee the daily routines of their assigned team members
  • Works with warehouse manager to manage scheduling and time off requests 

Warehouse Operations Operations:

  • Manages all movement of materials and ingredients from warehouse storage to production lines and back to storage post-production
  • Ensures staging, delivery, and return processes are aligned with production schedules and executed with minimal delay or error
  • Collaborates closely with Production Planning, Quality, and Inventory Control to coordinate accurate and timely pulls and returns
  • Maintains visibility over raw, WIP (Work In Progress), and finished goods inventory across departments
  • Oversees staging accuracy for production batches and reconciles returned materials to prevent loss, contamination, or misallocation
  • Audits real-time material usage to ensure proper FIFO/FEFO rotation, inventory accuracy, and WMS updates

Operational Efficiency:

  • Ensure 99% putaway accuracy and maintain slotting and rotation for the building
  • Develops and refines processes for staging, issuing, returning, and tracking production materials in WMS including issue to production and guided putback accuracy
  • Collaborates with QA, Maintenance, and Sanitation to ensure compliance and flow in shared production/warehouse spaces
  • Works with other departments to implement best practices and continuous improvement in warehouse-production interaction
  • Executes shift handoff, communicating with both Warehouse Operations team and other departments
  • Recommends and assists in implementing operating procedures and promotes continuous improvement within the department and the company

Communication & Cross-Functional Coordination:

  • Acts as the main liaison between Warehouse and Production during active shifts
  • Ensures shift handoffs between Warehouse and Production are smooth and well-communicated, with clear status of materials and returns
  • Escalates and resolves delays, inventory gaps, or system discrepancies impacting production readiness or warehouse efficiency
  • Prepares reports and shares feedback across shifts and departments to enable data-driven decision-making

General Responsibilities:

  • Follows the facility GMPs and Safety policies.  This helps enforce them throughout the facility
  • Supports the efforts of the company to maintain our food safety system (SQF) and quality programs as well as HCOS.  Expectation is that all areas of warehouse responsibilities score at or above established standards.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Computer proficiency to execute transactions and enter counts/corrections required  
  • Ability to use handheld data logging equipment required
  • Must have Supervised at least 10-15 employees.
  • Must have 2+ years of warehouse experience in a leadership role
  • 5S and lean manufacturing principles highly desired.
  • Employees must be familiar with and become certified to use all P.I.T equipment utilized at the facility within 90 days of employment. 
  • General high school degree, or equivalent, (e.g. GED).
