Be a voice for consumer protection in the new home building industry
Are you passionate about consumer protection and interested in making a difference in the new home building industry? Join the Home Construction Regulatory Authority's (HCRA) Consumer Advisory Council (CAC).
Your Role and Impact
The CAC provides independent, non-partisan advice to the HCRA on issues that matter to new home buyers. As a member, you'll help shape consumer-focused approaches to awareness, engagement and service delivery, contributing to a more informed and confident marketplace where buyers are protected and empowered.

What We Ask of Members
- A two-year term, with the option of reappointment.
- Attendance at up to six meetings per year, held virtually on Microsoft Teams.
- $250 for each meeting attended.
- Keeping council discussions and materials confidential.
Who We're Looking For
We're seeking 5 candidates with experience in any of the following areas:
- New home buyer (freehold or condominium)
- Member of a condominium board
- Real estate agent
- Chief building official or home inspector (retired or active)
- Consumer advocate
- Experience working in a regulatory environment
Members are expected to demonstrate integrity and professionalism, and to have a strong interest in supporting the HCRA's consumer protection mandate.
