Who You Are
You're a Business Intelligence Analyst who builds analytical solutions that stakeholders actually use. When Product Managers or Marketing leaders need dashboards or data insights, you partner with them to understand what they're trying to accomplish, then build the SQL queries, dashboards, and data tables that fully solve their problem.
You'll work on HomeLight's Business Intelligence team, embedded with Consumer Product and Marketing teams. Your stakeholders will rely on you to translate their business needs into data solutions—whether that's building a dashboard to track performance, writing SQL to extract the right metrics, or maintaining the data tables that power their reporting.
This role requires strong technical skills (SQL, dashboard development, data modeling) combined with the ability to understand business requirements and communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders. You're not just executing tickets—you're a solutions partner who delivers complete analytical products that drive decision-making.
What You’ll Do
- Write SQL queries to extract and analyze data - Daily work includes writing intermediate to advanced SQL to pull data from our data warehouse for analysis, dashboards, and reporting
- Build and maintain dashboards and reports - Create and update dashboards that track key product and marketing metrics, ensuring stakeholders have the data they need to make decisions
- Conduct deep-dive analysis - Investigate complex business questions through data analysis. This includes analyzing A/B tests, diagnosing operational issues, identifying performance trends, and conducting root cause analyses
- Define and monitor key metrics - Identify, track, and report on the metrics that matter for Consumer Product and Marketing, proactively flagging anomalies and trends
- Partner with stakeholders - Work with Product Managers and Marketing leaders to understand their data requirements and deliver analysis that fully addresses their business questions
What You Bring
- BA/BS degree in a quantitative field – Statistics, Computer Science, Analytics, Finance, Economics, or related fields preferred
- 2+ years of experience in a data analyst, business intelligence analyst, or similar analytical role
- Strong SQL skills including joins, CTEs, window functions, and complex aggregations - You write SQL daily and can independently handle multi-table queries, nested aggregations, and complex data transformations
- Experience building and maintaining dashboards in business intelligence tools (Tableau, Looker, Sisense, or similar platforms)
- Analytical and statistical thinking - You understand when patterns are meaningful vs noise, can apply statistical concepts in your analysis, and know how to structure analyses to answer business questions
- Strong proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets for data manipulation and analysis
- Ability to work with business stakeholders to understand requirements and communicate technical findings clearly
- Self-starter who can learn new tools and business context independently
- Bonus: Experience with Python or R for data analysis, statistical modeling, or working with dbt/analytics engineering tools
