Associate R&D Food Technologist
Pay Range: $60,000 - $80,000.00 - based on experience and qualifications
Summary:
The Associate R&D Technologist assists in many areas of product development. As a member of the R&D Department the Associate R&D Technologist will review nutritional data, assist in writing product specifications, and help design, launch, and execute new products from concept to large scale manufacturing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Under the supervision of the R&D Manager assists in the development, formulation, and tests of new product formulas.
- Helps ensure product formulations, specifications and implementation meet the corporate and client requirements, and are relative to cost, quality, and consistency
- Assists with multiple projects simultaneously
- Helps ensure new products meet deadlines
- Identifies opportunities for growth of internal R&D processes
- Aids in product presentations to customers
- Research new ingredients and market trends
- Run and assists with plant tests
Education and/or Experience
- MS Office proficiency
- Bachelor’s Degree or Masters, preferably in Food Science, Nutrition, Meat Science, or related field
- 2-5 years related experience, preferably with meat or protein analogues
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure
manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
Computer Skills
Proficient in the use of computer technology including standard software programs such as Microsoft Word, and Excel. Must be able to quickly and efficiently learn new systems and software to automate and analyze information.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time · Should be able to lift 30 lbs · Must have good vision, a good sense of taste, and a willingness to eat meat products · Must be able to wear steel-toed boots, a hair net, safety glasses, and ear plugs

- Will work mostly in a test kitchen environment, it is important to use good kitchen communication and
demonstrate good knife skills and kitchen safety
- The manufacturing environment is loud and has very cold and hot temperatures. PPE will be provided to
help with comfort in these areas.
- Occasionally an R&D test may run early, at night, or on a weekend.
