Sr. Manager, Commercial Finance - CPG or Food Mfg Exp Required

💰 Pay Range: $140,000.00 - $180,000.00 annually (based on experience and qualifications)

📌This role is not a traditional Finance role. CPG or Food Mfg. experience is Required!

The Senior Manager, Commercial Finance, will serve as a strategic finance partner to Sales, Marketing, R&D, and the broader commercialization team within a CPG/food manufacturing environment. This is a highly cross-functional commercial role requiring deep, hands-on experience with trade spend, customer economics, pricing, promotions, and gross-to-net management.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Commercial Finance, you will translate financial, customer, and commercial data into actionable insights that drive profitable growth, optimize customer investment, improve pricing and promotional decisions, and strengthen forecasting and resource allocation.

This is not a traditional Finance role. The successful candidate will bring direct CPG experience and understand how trade investment, promotions, pricing, customer P&Ls, volume/mix, and gross-to-net dynamics work together to drive commercial performance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as a strategic finance partner to Commercial leadership, Field Sales, Revenue Growth Management, Marketing, Innovation, and R&D.
  • Evaluate trade spend, promotional effectiveness, customer-level ROI, pricing, gross-to-net performance, and customer profitability and recommend actions to improve returns.
  • Develop and maintain trade-spend optimization metrics, including promotional ROI, spend efficiency, price realization, customer profitability, and gross-to-net performance.
  • Lead monthly commercial performance analysis, including revenue, trade spend, gross-to-net, volume, price, mix, and margin performance.
  • Lead the commercial forecast process, integrating customer inputs, pricing, trade investment, innovation, distribution changes, and risks/opportunities.
  • Present forecast insights, assumptions, risks, and opportunities to Commercial and Finance leadership.
  • Develop customer scorecards covering volume, gross sales, net sales, trade investment, price realization, mix, margin, and profitability.
  • Support executive reporting, strategic initiatives, and annual planning.
  • Establish consistent financial decision frameworks across customers, channels, products, and investments.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, RGM, Demand Planning, Supply Chain, R&D, and Finance to evaluate business opportunities and drive commercially sound decisions.
  • Serve as a finance copilot for trade support, partnering with Sales and Revenue Growth Management to evaluate trade investments, promotional effectiveness, and customer-level returns.
  • Translate financial results into clear commercial insights, recommendations, and actions.
  • Constructively challenge assumptions while maintaining strong cross-functional relationships.
  • Standardize Commercial Finance processes, reporting, templates, definitions, and review routines.
  • Develop scalable dashboards and analytics that reduce manual reporting and shift focus to insights and decisions.
  • Use automation and AI-enabled tools responsibly, with appropriate financial review and controls.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive finance experience within CPG, food & beverage, or a closely related consumer products environment.
  • Significant hands-on experience with trade spend and customer finance, including customer P&Ls, gross-to-net reporting, promotional ROI, trade investment effectiveness, pricing, and optimization metrics.
  • Experience in Commercial Finance, Customer Finance, Sales Finance, Revenue Growth Management, or a closely related CPG finance function.
  • Strong understanding of CPG commercial dynamics and experience supporting channels such as Retail, Club, Convenience, Foodservice and New Business Development.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong understanding of forecasting, pricing, volume/mix, margin management, investment evaluation, and financial statements.
  • Demonstrated ability to convert complex financial and commercial analysis into clear business recommendations.
  • Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills with strong Excel proficiency.
  • Experience with BI/reporting tools and large commercial datasets.
  • Strong written, verbal, influencing, and executive presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, growing organization.

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, ERP, trade-promotion, or advanced analytics tools.
  • Experience building or improving finance processes in a growing organization.
  • MBA, CPA, CMA, or other relevant advanced qualification.
