Freelance Expert Product Tester, Tools and Home Improvement

About The Role

We’re looking to contract with 3-4 experts with deep expertise in home improvement to join our growing team. You’ll review and recommend products, inform buying guides, and critique existing content to ensure our articles provide homeowners with the most up-to-date, authoritative, and valuable guidance on the best tools to buy. 

You’ll maintain a high bar of excellence for each piece of content that gets your stamp of approval, and your name and bio will appear on every page you review.

Your Day-to-Day

  • As a Freelance Expert Product Tester, you will review 2-3 products or pages a month from our editorial team regarding categories such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical, landscaping or general contracting. 
  • You will critique our articles to provide guidance for homeowners on products or services to purchase

About You

Eligible candidates should have a minimum of five years of experience working in the home improvement industry or a trade. You should have experience in one of the following categories:

  • Plumbing
  • Carpentry
  • Electrical
  • Landscaping
  • Handyman/General Contracting

The ideal candidate will be able to provide thoughtful reviews of specific tools and products related to their area of expertise, as well as actionable advice for homeowners. 

We seek candidates with expertise in home improvement through professional work experience. We have a high editorial standard to ensure the content we publish meets and exceeds the expectations of our readers through "actionable insights" our readers can take away as value for consuming our content, so subject-matter expertise is required.

The Package

We offer competitive compensation based on experience. You will review pages or products 2-3 times per month, and payment is per article. This is a long-term role with opportunities to expand as needed.
