About the Role

Home Solutions, a dynamic and rapidly growing digital lead generation business in North Carolina, is on the lookout for an experienced Full Stack Engineering Manager with sharp technical chops to lead and enhance our developer teams. As a key player in our organization, you will be instrumental in overseeing developer teams on multiple business units, driving our technology modernization initiatives forward.

Your Day-to-Day

  • Backend Expertise: Masterfully design software systems and APIs, build custom backend solutions, manage and tune databases, and construct complex internal tooling and sites based on MVC frameworks like Laravel.
  • Frontend Mastery: Use your expert knowledge of ES6, CSS3 and HTML5 to build fast, accessible, and performant experiences for our users. Expertise with a modern frontend framework like Rect is a must. Ideal candidates will have Next.js, Vercel, Typescript and Webpack/Bundler experience.
  • WordPress Experience: Leverage your background in WordPress to guide and enhance our web development efforts. You should possess a solid understanding of Wordpress' architecture, database, and how to tune for performance.
  • Technical Prowess: Ability to architect and deliver solutions to complex problems. You should have conviction in your technical philosophy with experience creating ADRs, DFDs, and other documentation tools to get your team onboard.
  • Forward Thinking: Willing to lean into new technologies and processes to drive efficiency and results from your team. Wants to ensure maximum efficiency and developer satisfaction by leveraging modern pipelines and tools to automate routine tasks.
  • Team Leadership: Showcase 3+ years of experience in an engineering management or staff engineer role, demonstrating a track record of leading and supporting successful teams. This is a technical management role, you will be splitting your time 50/50 between management tasks implementing features with the team.

  • Strategic Thinking: Work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and articulate a vision and strategy for our engineering efforts, ensuring they contribute to the overall success of the business.

This role demands broad technical competency in system design, a comprehensive understanding of server side engineering, solid foundations in modern front-end development, experience with WordPress, and the ability to lead and inspire teams in a rapidly growing and innovative environment. About You

  • 8+ years of direct web app development experience using PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript. 
    • Must have mastery of a modern JS framework and static site generator such as React/Next.js or equivalent. 
    • Must have experience with building custom sites, APIs and admins in a web app framework like Laravel or equivalent. 
    • Must be extremely comfortable working directly with databases, designing code pipelines and owning managed infrastructure.  
  • 3+ years of professional front-end development on top of multiple commonly used CMS systems like Wordpress, Drupal, Contentful, or Joomla. Bonus for experience with modern headless CMS systems like Sanity, Strapi or Builder.io. 
  • 3+ years managing development teams supporting a portfolio of different websites.
  • Business acumen and ability to translate business needs into technical requirements. Ideal candidate has experience developing architectural plans to accomplish business goals, utilizing ERDs, DFDs and ADRs to gain approval for projects.
  • Track record of attracting, motivating, and retaining high-quality talent.

  • Stay up to date on the latest industry trends and experiment with new solutions. 
  • Experience with Agile methodologies including common scrum ceremonies and tools (sprint planning, retrospective, demo, and story points).
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Are able to travel to Raleigh, NC or Charlotte, NC 1x per year.
