Our Ideal Candidate

Our ideal candidate is a mission-driven, motivated multi-tasker who is invested in work that is fulfilling and impactful. They embrace change and tackle challenges with enthusiasm. They have an “all-in” disposition towards work, understanding that we are a fast-paced, high-growth organization with evolving priorities. They can excel at both independent tasks and collaborative work, leading with clear and candid communication. They exhibit humble leadership—the ability to drive initiatives forward while remaining excited about continuous learning and development opportunities. They feel strongly about being part of a team that advocates for people to live longer and better lives.

About the Role
Hone is seeking an ambitious, discerning, science-obsessed storyteller to join our content team as Editorial Lead, Longevity & Optimization. In this role, you’ll help position Hone as a thought leader in longevity and health optimization. You’ll spot trends before they go mainstream, break down their scientific validity, and create best-in-class content that earns trust, builds authority, and sparks engagement.

You’ll be the editor behind some of The Edge’s most zeitgeisty pieces. You’ll work across formats, from articles to newsletters to freelancer-executed video content, and partner with top-tier writers and expert sources to make our content indispensable to health-obsessed readers. And you’ll ensure this content ladders up to Hone’s brand and business goals.

About You:
You live and breathe health optimization and longevity science. You’re the first to know when a new protocol makes waves on a podcast or when a groundbreaking clinical study drops. Your group chat depends on you to explain whether the latest biohack is legit or just hype. You’re a science-literate editor who doesn’t just report on longevity trends; you decode them, contextualize them, and help readers navigate them confidently and clearly.

You’re deeply curious with a nose for what cuts through the noise and have a passion for helping people live longer, better lives. Your digital Rolodex is packed with best-in-class writers and expert sources. You know how to make complex science conversational and how to turn raw insight into content that informs, resonates, and drives impact.

You’ve got a newsroom sense of urgency, a wordsmith’s sense of voice, and the agility to work across formats. You’re excited to help Hone become a leader in healthspan, human performance, and evidence-based wellness. You’re energized by the pace, ambiguity, and mission-driven mindset of a growing startup.

Please note:
This role isn’t a fit for candidates with experience limited to general health & wellness content, lifestyle content, or unvetted trend coverage. We’re looking for someone who brings scientific rigor, editorial authority, and a sharp sense of brand-building to everything they create, balanced by humility and mission alignment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of “longevity zeitgeist” content across blog, newsletter, and video to cement Hone as a leader in health optimization and longevity
  • Identify emerging topics with clinical and editorial potential in this space; vet their scientific credibility and evaluate brand fit
  • Write, assign, and edit high-impact content that decodes and evaluates longevity trends and science, delivering clear takeaways for a health-literate, optimization-obsessed audience
  • Own Hone’s newsletter, developing a sharp editorial voice, growing engagement, and transforming it into a key channel for brand authority and audience connection
  • Manage a small roster of freelancers and external creators across written and multimedia content
  • Work with the Senior Editorial Director to elevate storytelling across channels
  • Track content performance and engagement, using insights to refine formats, angles, and distribution
  • Collaborate with SEO and medical reviewers to ensure content is discoverable, accurate, and trustworthy
  • Occasionally collaborate with other editorial team members on evergreen content or team-wide initiatives

Qualifications:

  • 8–10+ years of experience in health journalism or digital media, with a focus on health science, health optimization, or human performance
  • Excellent editorial judgment and writing skills, with a clear, modern, and science-forward voice that connects to readers wherever they are in their health journies
  • A deep understanding of the longevity space—covering topics like hormones, metabolism, cognitive health, sleep, and fitness from a scientific lens
  • Proven experience producing both newsworthy content and brand-forward editorial aligned with broader marketing objectives
  • Newsletter experience, from editorial development to engagement optimization
  • A network of high-caliber writers and expert sources in the health and science space
  • Multimedia content creation or oversight experience (e.g., video scripting, social integration, podcast collaboration)
  • Familiarity with SEO and performance analytics tools such as GA4, Search Console, and Ahrefs
  • Experience aligning editorial with business goals
  • Bonus: You walk the walk. You’re immersed in the optimization space, personally invested in evidence-based health, and driven by a genuine desire to help people optimize their health and longevity.

Classification of protected categories is as follows:

Form CC-305

OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
