Job Summary:

Designs, implements, and manages the wired and wireless infrastructure required to support all HP Hood LLC network communications. This is a hands-on position that may require 24/7 availability to perform implementations, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and support of voice and data networks. This position requires occasional offsite travel to various plant locations to service equipment, perform project scoping and coordination of vendor-supplied services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works to implement, maintain, troubleshoot, repair and support corporate networks including related equipment to provide 24/7/365 availability to the business.
  • Takes ownership of data and voice network infrastructure necessary to support all company business requirements including internet connectivity (ISP selection and management), Firewalls, Routers, Wireless, SD-WAN, VPN access, telco usage and network security with minimal input from management.
  • Assists with support of legacy PBX and modern UCaaS telecommunications, voicemail, maintenance, support, and administration. 
  • Takes initiative to redesign or modify network architecture as appropriate, to support dynamic company business requirements, to take advantage of new technologies and/or to reduce operating costs.
  • Ensures adherence to industry best practices to develop and maintain high availability/disaster recovery network plans to support business availability requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain network documentation, specifications, and policies.
  • Perform end-user or cross-functional support and training as needed.
  • Works with Infrastructure Management team to support vendor relationships and contracts including service agreements, pricing, renewals, performance reviews, and support coordination. 
  • Assist with RFP creation, evaluation of proposals, and purchase decision process. Evaluate and implement infrastructure design changes and maintain technology refresh.
  • Proactively provides the business with performance reporting, outage notifications, project status and updates. 
  • Continued professional development in the areas of business, leadership, and information technology. Stay up to date with technologies relevant to the company’s operations. Cross-train on various business software applications and infrastructure used at the company. Expand knowledge of the manufacturing industry.
  • Develop and coordinate the execution of periodic risk assessments to audit security policies, standards, and computing assets to identify compliance and vulnerabilities. 
  • Recommend methods to mitigate identified vulnerabilities. Track timely closure of identified control gaps and risk mitigation plans and actively support action owners during issue remediation.
  • Occasional travel (which will include overnight) to company sites, external vendors, and training locations.

Education and Experience:

  • B.S. Degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems; or equivalent business and network technology experience. CISCO CCNA, CCNP or similar technical certifications required.
  • Twelve or more years’ experience in current network infrastructure and technology including telecommunications and data services supplemented by vocational and other specific technology training.
  • History working in a medium to large multi-location company, supporting multiple shifts with a centralized IT function.
  • High ethical standards, specifically regarding privileged access and security protocols. Ability to maintain confidential information with discretion.
  • Experience deploying and administering Cisco and Forcepoint Firewalls.
  • Knowledge of Cisco IOS, switching, routing, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, IPSEC and Access Control Systems expected.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools such as PRTG, WhatsUP Gold, SNMP, RMON, and similar.
  • Proficiency designing, implementing, and administering SD-WAN solutions. 
  • Hands-on experience with legacy PBX platforms, VOIP, SIP and modern UCaaS platforms.
  • Expertise with Extreme wired & wireless networks a plus.
  • Understanding of cloud provider architecture such as AWS and Azure a plus.
  • Comprehension of Zero-Trust network principals and implementation a plus.
  • Management of IT/OT segmentation and manufacturing industry technology practices a plus.

  • Builds and recommends internal infrastructure policies, procedures, and tools according to industry best practices.
  • Develops goals, objectives, and strategies for recommendation to the IT Management team.
  • Researches and recommends network and telecom solutions, products, and services.
  • Identifies and provides budgetary information for existing technologies and future projects.
  • Management of vendor relationships and contracts.

 

Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience and location.

The pay range for this position is

$75,000 - $100,000 USD
