Job Title: Medical Assistant (with Mobile Rotation)
Location: Hope and Healing Clinic – Tumwater, WA (with mobile rotation across Thurston and nearby counties as needed)
Reports To: Medical Director

Salary Range: $28.00 – $32.00/hour
Position Summary
The Medical Assistant at Hope and Healing Clinic (HHC) plays a vital role in supporting clinic operations by delivering compassionate, high-quality patient care. This position is primarily clinic-based in Tumwater, WA, with shared rotation on our mobile unit which deploys to surrounding communities. The Medical Assistant works collaboratively with medical providers, nurses, and behavioral health professionals to support whole-person care in addiction treatment and recovery.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Support
- Prepare exam rooms and assist providers with procedures and clinical visits.
- Collect and record patient vital signs, health information, and complete other relevant documentation.
- Perform routine medical assistant tasks within scope of licensure, such as EKGs, urine drug screen collection, and blood draws.
- Maintain cleanliness, sterility, and organization of clinical equipment and supplies.
Patient Engagement & Education
- Create a warm, respectful, and inclusive environment for all patients.
- Educate patients on care instructions, medications, and follow-up steps in a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive manner.
- Address patient questions and concerns with empathy and professionalism.
Operational Support
- Ensure daily readiness of clinic space and support mobile unit setup when assigned.
- Document all clinical services accurately and promptly in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Maintain inventory of medical supplies and restock as needed.
Mobile Rotation (as assigned)
- Participate in shared rotations on the HHC mobile unit to serve patients in the community.
- Adapt clinical care delivery to non-traditional settings, including mobile exam rooms and outreach sites.
- Support setup and breakdown of mobile units and collaborate with mobile team members.
Team Collaboration
- Partner with providers, clinical staff, and counselors to deliver coordinated care.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
- Support onboarding and mentoring of new team members when appropriate.
Qualifications
Education & Certification
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Completion of a Washington State-recognized Medical Assistant training program.
- Active Medical Assistant-Certified (MA-C) or Medical Assistant-Registered (MA-R) credential in Washington.
Skills & Experience
- Prior experience in a clinical or addiction recovery setting preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with EMR systems and documentation best practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm, flexible, and focused in dynamic or emotionally charged environments.
Work Environment
This role is primarily based at the Tumwater clinic but may involve mobile outreach shifts across surrounding counties. The position may require early mornings, flexibility with transportation, and the ability to work in compact or community-based care environments.
