Lead Analytics Engineer
About Hopscotch Primary Care
At Hopscotch Primary Care, we believe great healthcare should be accessible to all people across all communities. Today, almost 20% of Americans live in a rural community, yet only 11% of physicians practice in those same communities. We are on a mission to transform healthcare in rural America. We provide high-quality primary care tailored to meet the needs of our patients through our robust care model and comprehensive care team, delivering care in our clinics, and across settings, and wrapping resources around the patients who need them most.
Our patients and the care teams who serve them sit at the center of everything we do at Hopscotch. Hopscotch Primary Care takes a team approach to serve patient needs and provide the best care possible. Our goal is to provide the care each of us would want for ourselves or for our family members, in the right setting, and at the right time.
Today, we are serving thousands of patients in our value-based care model and the number is growing every day. If you want to bring your experience, skill and passion to make a lasting impact in healthcare, we’d like to meet you.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a mission-driven Lead Analytics Engineer (remote) to design and build the semantic data layer that powers analytics at Hopscotch Primary Care. In this role, you will transform raw data assets into trusted, business-ready data models that enable self-service analytics, reporting, and operational insights across the company.
You’ll work hands-on to design data model architecture, build transformation pipelines, and ensure that our business data layer reflects the realities of healthcare operations. You’ll partner with analytics, product, and clinical stakeholders to translate business requirements into data structures that unlock clarity, consistency, and actionable insights.
This role is both technical and collaborative: you’ll spend time hands on keyboard building transformations, while also guiding the long-term data modeling strategy for the organization. You will report to the Senior Director of Engineering and collaborate closely with our data engineering, analytics, and product teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Semantic Data Layer Development & Self-Service Enablement

- Build reusable, testable pipelines that turn golden tables into a trusted semantic layer.
- Ensure models reflect healthcare operations, clinical workflows, and business priorities.
- Build simple self-service analytics tools that allow non-technical stakeholders to independently explore data and answer follow-up business questions.
Data Model Architecture & Standards
- Define and evolve data modeling patterns, conventions, and governance for consistent and reliable analytics.
- Anticipate downstream analytics needs and design with scale, flexibility, and clarity in mind.
- Partner with analytics leads to standardize definitions of metrics, KPIs, and business concepts.
Collaboration & Requirements Gathering
- Work directly with business and clinical stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into data model designs.
- Collaborate with data engineering on upstream pipelines and integrations.
- Partner with stakeholders to ensure data models meet reporting, dashboarding, and decision-support needs.
Execution & Leadership
- Deliver production-grade, maintainable pipelines and models (Python, PySpark, dbt or equivalent).
- Provide mentorship and guidance to analytics engineers and analysts.
- Contribute to data quality, testing, and documentation best practices
ABOUT YOU:
You’ll thrive in this role if you:

- Understand healthcare data sources (EHR, claims, population health tools) and workflows.
- Are comfortable designing data architecture and semantic layers to fit business needs.
- Can work end-to-end: gathering requirements, designing models, and coding transformations.
- Communicate clearly and translate technical concepts into business-aligned solutions.
- Balance strategic thinking with a willingness to roll up your sleeves.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong experience with data modeling tools and transformation frameworks (dbt, PySpark, SQL).
- Solid Python/Pyspark programming skills; experience in production-quality pipelines.
- Familiarity with healthcare data standards and workflows.
- Experience with modern data platforms (Palantir Foundry, Databricks, or equivalent).
